Jackie Forster on fighting for daughter Caleigh: “You know, whatever may happen, I’m gonna fight this through with my head held high. Because I know, I know that people will gonna say, ‘Ayan, ayan kasi..’ And then, I prayed about it. I can’t let people keep bringing me down.”

Sagot niya, “We believe she’s cured.

“Medically speaking, she’s in remission. She needs to go for two years of chemotherapy.

“But when we look at her, when we pray, when we talk about her, she’s cured.”

It was on and off.

“So, better to bring her to a specialist, like a pediatrician.

“I was scared, it could be dengue.

“So, when I took her to the pediatrician, Monday…

“So, when the doctor told me, because she had the blood drawn, of course, she knew the symptoms.

“Feeling niya, she might have leukemia.

“And then, I was even thinking, ‘Ano yung leukemia? Yeah, it’s a sickness, but no, it’s dengue, right?’

“Parang in denial pa nga ako noon.

"And, yeah, everything just started to unfold, one by one, after that."

CANCER.

“’Keep us safe. Keep us healthy. Thank You.’

“She only learned the word ‘cancer’ recently from her brother [Jared], but she doesn’t use it.

“What she calls what she has, ang tawag niya dun, ‘alien.’”

Kuwento ni Jackie, “Because he mentioned the word cancer to me when we were talking.

“And we say, ‘Until we kill the alien, we need to do this.’

“So, one time, he said, ‘Mom, I asked the people in the church to pray for Caleigh.’

“And I said, ‘Why?’

“’Don’t get mad, Mom, I told them she has cancer.’

“I said, ‘But who told you she has cancer?’

“’Mom, Ms. Turner had cancer before. She lost her hair. Caleigh’s bald. She’s sick. Cancer.’”

FIGHTING FOR CALEIGH.

Sagot ng dating Regal baby, “You know, whatever may happen, I’m gonna fight this through with my head held high.

“Because I know, I know that people will gonna say, ‘Ayan, ayan kasi...’

“And then, I prayed about it. I can’t let people keep bringing me down.”

“On my Instagram, I have people say that it’s my fault. It’s my karma.”

Ano ang isinagot niya?

“My God doesn’t work that way.”

GOING BALD. Ano ang dasal ni Jackie ngayon?

“I pray that she enjoys her life—a long and healthy life.

“I pray that she forgets all the pain.

“And it works, you know, she’s so resilient.

Saad ng dating aktres, “She was scared sa umpisa. Natatakot siyang magtanong.

“But when she goes to the hospital, nakikita niya lahat sila magkamukha.

“So, she needed to know eventually. We did it medyo gradual.

“She massaged her hair… She mentioned, ‘When will my hair grow long?’

“So, that’s the time for me to tell her.”

BLAMING HERSELF.

Pero sabi niya, “I’m over it.

“I didn’t go through it. I just wanted to know why it needed to happen.

“If you see the kind of inspiration Caleigh is, what she does, even to the nurse when she’s tired, she sings for them.”

Sabi ni Jackie, “You just have to focus on the good.

“But what you need to do for the person to get well, most important is to be happy. To make that person’s life happy.

“Caleigh, after chemo or surgery or any procedure, she’ll wake up the next day and she’ll ask me to open the window and tell me to look outside and see how beautiful it is.

“She paints for me and she paints a boat and water and she’ll paint the sky pink.

“And I said, ‘Caleigh, it’s supposed to be blue.’

“’No, Mom, it’s pink and orange.’

“And I’ll say, ‘Okay.’

“Then, days later, I’ll look out and she’ll say, ‘See, I told you so.’

“She’s an angel.”
