Juan Direction’s Daniel Marsh claims taxi driver tried to rip him off

Daniel Marsh of Juan Direction denies he was drunk when the incident with the taxi driver happened. “We end up in physically altercation. I felt threatened,” says Daniel in an interview with PEP today, July 25.

“I’m not the kind of guy to do this, seriously.”

Pahayag ni Daniel tungkol sa insidente, “If you look at it from face value, if you see the picture of the scenario, it seems [like that], but it’s not…

"The way they made it look, it’s not what it seems."

DANIEL DENIES. Aminado ang One of the Boys star na hindi madali para sa kanya ang sitwasyon, lalo pa’t first time mangyari ito sa kanya.

“It’s not an easy situation.

"Ngayon, mahirap talaga, kasi it’s not something that I’m used to, ’di ba?

"Emotionally, psychologically, mahirap talaga."

“The hardest part is to have this scenario kind of blow up…madaming tao naman nagagalit sa akin.

"Kasi, I’ve been in the Philippines for a long time.

"Yung trending point of our show, what we’ve always done dito is about Filipino culture, the average Juan…

Patuloy niya, “’Tapos we’ve done lahat dito. I’ve worked so hard in order to get Juan Direction, Island Media—our YouTube channel...

"We went there and we did pedicab driving, we went out and sold balot, we sold taho... we still do crazy things on the streets.”

“My mom is Filipina. I’ve lived here for seven years.

"So it’s hard for me to see what’s happening ngayon, kasi it seems to be blowing up.

"And it is not exactly what it seems. It isn’t.

“There’s two sides of the story, ’di ba?”

“I wouldn’t borrow money if my intention was to run away from taxi. Who would do that?

“So, I had to go home and go straight to work.

"Because I lost my wallet, I take out the P100, I show it to Kuya [driver] and he looks at me and said, ‘Hindi, hindi P500 lang.’”

"I’m gonna give him P100, he’s gonna get the barya.

"I’m not gonna ask for the barya back, so he would have gotten his tip anyway."

Saad pa niya, “He wants to take over the situation.

"It’s not my intention do to that. All I want to do is go to work.

"It is not my intention to…may away, may galit sa labas ng bahay ko.

"Why would I want to fight outside my home?

"Why would I want to rob outside my own home? Bakit free [fare] outside my own bahay?”

ALTERCATION WITH THE DRIVER.

“We ended up in an altercation inside the cab.

"Verbally, taas-taas yung boses, ’tapos it’s getting worse and worse."

I mean, ’di ba, I’m trying to go to work?

"Dito ako sa bahay ko, this guy tries to claim, he’s trying to fraud me, and I end up…

"Okay, I’m angry, we’re angry.

"We end up in physically altercation.

"I felt threatened. What am I supposed to do?

"He’s making it like he’s the victim here pero, you know, the scenario was created by him.

"He made the scenario with the fare...It started verbally.”

Pagpapatuloy ni Daniel, “Physically, he grabbed me first sa loob ng taxi. That made me angry.

"Not only he was trying to take my money and not charge me properly."

Depensa pa niya, “Kasi, I take cabs all the time.

"I expect walang away, walang problema.

"I always give extra. I don’t ever ask for extra.

“Pero this time, I’m really angry, kasi P500 is too much.”

NOT DRUNK.

“I did not plan to get drunk. I did not drink,” mariin niyang pagtanggi.

“My plan was to go out and meet my friends ’coz they had despedida.

“Pero yun lang. I had to go home, I had to go to work.

"So, I was going to go shower, change, and go to work diretso.

"I work a lot [because] Juan Direction [taping] is pretty relentless hours,” pagtukoy niya sa reality show ng Kapatid network kung saan siya kasama.

“I was not drunk. I was not drunk,” diin niya.

Sabi niya, “If I was to beat him so severely, bakit he’s not severely bruised?

"You don’t see pictures of him na parang sugat, ’di ba?

"It wasn’t as bad as it seems.

"It was a scenario where yung taas ng boses, oo, may physical altercation, may galit kami, pero he’s making it out parang ano...worst talaga.”

QUESTIONABLE WITNESS.

“The authorities are not the authorities, they’re security guards in my own condo,” paglilinaw ni Daniel.

Reklamo pa niya sa mga nasabing security guards, “The thing is that they’ve done things that they shouldn’t have by divulging my private details. That is selfish.

"Security guards divulging my private details, they shouldn’t have done that anyway.

"So, if they are already divulging private details and they’re not going by the rules, I guess it’s gonna be a very difficult situation for me.”

“That’s the same security guard who divulged my situation, so basically they’re obviously not following protocols."

SORRY FOR THE SCENARIO. Sabi ni Daniel, “At the end of the day, I was the one with P200.

"I had an encounter with a taxi driver, who tried to basically rip me off.

"Nobody likes to get ripped off.”

Pero paglilinaw niya, “I don’t speak for all the taxi drivers in Manila.

"I’ve taken loads of taxis here. Madaming taxi drivers na mabait talaga.

“If I was to always get into a fight with taxi drivers, it would be often, ’di ba, kasi I’m taking them all the time."

Pagtukoy niya sa pinakahuling insidente niya sa driver, “It’s just that at that stage, he was trying to cease an opportunity, and it’s unfortunate that this had to happen now.

“I guess he’s trying to make my name bad, ganyan. What can I do about that?”

“I’m so sorry and I apologize para sa scenario that this has to be in the public, that it had to take place like this.

“At the end of the day, it is a shock to me. It is the first time.

"I guess, because I’m in the public light, it’s coming out more often na.

“This is not something that is easy to handle. People can think what of it.

"At least, I know... if I’m provoked, someone’s gonna react.

"Unfortunately, I’m in the public eye."
