“Really, Jo-Ann, my BP has been going from 155/100, 160/105.
“You know, it's partly hereditary. My dad had a heart attack at 47, and his dad at 65.
“The doctor also said that this kind of thing, blood pressure rising, starts from 45 until menopause.”
“I know that what I've been doing these 20 years—I entered showbiz when I was 16—cumulatively takes its toll.
“I'm not like my sisters, they're all happily married, they have kids who are all grown up.
“Although Noy [President Noynoy Aquino] doesn't have a family yet.
“But me, I have an eight-year-old and I have a special child.
“You know, the stress adds up when I worry about what will happen to them if anything happens to me.”
WORK TAKING ITS TOLL.
Sabi ni Kris, “You know, I had a full executive check up in September , and I had repeat blood tests after that, and all said I'm perfectly fine.
“My cholesterol is fine, my blood sugar is okay, I don't have sugar problems. My results are all good.
“It's just pagod and stress—I'm really just tired and stressed out.”
Banggit pa ng TV host-actress, “You know, when I tape, for instance, for four straight days, you can be sure that my BP will go up! So, it's really all pagod.”
“You cannot imagine the stress of being bashed every day, of people making comments every day about how you look, what you said, what your brother did...
“I have to take it every day. Nobody knows how that feels.
“And I cannot just ignore the comments. I appear on cam Monday to Friday, so I always get comments.
“You can imagine that, after a time, it takes its toll.”
Kaya naman natatawang sabi ng 45-year-old TV host, “The very thing that makes you a success is the very thing that will make you sick.”
Dagdag ng tinaguriang Queen of All Media, “I'm very intense. I invest my emotions in the work.
“I'm really into it when I'm on the job, which is why now I have to back down a bit.
“The doctors talked to me, in conference, and said, 'We can up the dosage of your medication, but you still need to help us!'
“I don't want to up my dosage, so I really have to do something.”
Dahil sa kanyang mga nararamdaman, napagtanto rin daw ni Kris, “For all of us in showbiz, we make money on our health.
“Now, if we don't take care of our health, we lose everything.
“You know, we have to space the breaks.
“According to the doctor, it should be, every few months we should take a ten-day break.”
“This is really a wake-up call, and I have to take advantage of this time when my contract is up.
“After all, I've been working 20 years straight. I need the rest. I need to go to a place where I can feel calm.”
Dagdag pa ni Kris, “You know, Jo-Ann, I'm okay.
“I'm in a much better place than others were, who have worked even longer and who left ABS.
“But, you know, who can say they've worked 20 years straight? Very few.”
You know, my happiest, most peaceful moments are when I'm with my family abroad.
“Honest, my BP is so normal when I'm there.”
THANKFUL TO ABS-CBN.
“In fairness to ABS, they were willing to wait for me to get my health break. They know I need the rest.
“But I didn't think it would be fair to them for me to do that.”
Sabi pa niya, “You know, it's 20 years!
“I have to say that I'm grateful to ABS-CBN for giving me all the opportunities.
“But, I really have to stay healthy for my kids. What will happen to them when I'm gone?”
“I just said I will rest. You know, one can rest for just three months!” sabay tawa niya.
“My ate was telling me, 'You know, you can come back. You're not leaving na you're a nobody. You can still come back.”
Natatawang sabi niya, “You never know, I might enter the corporate world!”
Sa kanyang Instagram post kahapon, March 8, sinabi ng celebrity mom: “I'm the SOLE PROVIDER for my sons, but for now I'll do it away from stress of the limelight.”
