There has been a clamor for the CassRen love team, aka Cassy Legaspi and Darren Espanto, since last year.
It began in January 2015, with Darren's admission that he finds Cassy "very pretty."
In February 2015, the young singer revealed during his album launch that he dedicated the "Count On Me" song to the daughter of Carmina Villarroel.
In March 2015, Cassy earned some online bashers, who were personally blocked by Carmina, who then said, "Kaya ko nasasabi yung word na stage mom, siyempre anak ko yun.
"Kung ako ang titirahin niyo, hello, dedma to the world! Hindi ko kayo papatulan.
"Iba kapag anak niyo na ang papatulan."
In June 2015, Carmina was asked again about Darren's crush on Cassy.
She said with a nervous laugh, "Normal naman 'yang crush-crush na ganyan. Ako rin dumaan sa ganyan."
In August 2015, Darren and Cassy finally met at the concert of Ariana Grande, "pero hindi kami nagkausap," said Darren in an interview.
“Kasi kilala ko si Darren, e. Mabait na bata," she began.
"Buti na lang na-meet ko siya, na-meet ko yung parents niya.
"Wala naman ako masasabi against them, kasi mabait na bata, very respectful 'tapos ilang beses na sila nag-meet, ilang beses na sila nagkakasama, so kahit si Maverick e nakilala na niya."
Isn't she appalled by the idea that Cassy may soon have a suitor?
"Wala naman akong problema kasi mga bata pa sila.
"Alam naman nila na mga bata pa sila, so nakikita ko naman na mabait naman.
"They just hang out pag kunwari habang nag-aantay sa ASAP.
"Thankful lang ako na kung hindi man si Darren, sa mga humahanga sa mga anak ko, nagpapasalamat ako."
To the admirers of Cassy, Carmina said, "Thank you lang dahil, di ba, at least hinahangaan nila ang anak ko.”
We turned to Cassy and asked her about Darren.
“Well, I guess I was shocked like, 'Oh wow, oh thank you,' but you know, actually, we both know that we’re friends and, yeah, we’re friends naman.”
