Kiko Matos was caught on video giving Baron Geisler a hard shove and a kick in the stomach during their supposedly peaceful face-off last Monday, June 13.
The two met for the contract signing for their upcoming mixed martial arts fight under Universal Reality Combat Championship (URCC) on June 25.
Based on the Facebook video posted by MMA Philippines, Baron and Kiko seemed to be civil towards each other at first.
Then Baron hugged Kiko close and the former spoke about something inaudible in the video.
Kiko seemed fine about their exchange and even tapped Baron on the back several times.
But in the span of a few seconds, things heated up as Kiko gave Baron a hard-shove-and-sucker-kick combo.
It wasn't clear if Baron said something to provoke Kiko into kicking him.
But the handful of people surrounding them immediately kept them away from each other.
Baron remained unfazed, however, as he dissed Kiko's attempt to hurt him.
"Hindi ako nasaktan dun, a. Yun lang ba yun? Hahaha!
BARON'S RUDE GESTURE. But to his defense, Kiko posted a separate Facebook video showing how Baron disrespected him in front of URCC organizers.
Baron and Kiko were asked to shake hands as a sign of reconciliation—which is the stipulation of URCC before the two can engage in a mixed martial arts match.
Kiko seemed to be a bit hesitant but he eventually extended his hand to formally shake hands with Baron.
The URCC organizer even remarked, "I wish na this is real and sincere reconciliation...”
But instead of being conciliatory, Baron made a rude gesture towards Kiko amid their handshake.
Baron sarcastically added, “Ayan, binabati ko 'yan. Baka labasan ka na mamaya.”
Kiko coolly responded, “May June 25 pa naman tayo.”
KIKO HITS BACK AT BASHERS. But as it turned out, Kiko was far from calm and even took offense from Baron's disrespecful gesture.
Kiko stated in his Facebook post today, June 17: “Ako na nga yung nagextend ng kamay ko para magbati na kami, pero ano ang ginawa nya?”
Kiko also expressed his dismay at netizens who called him names following his “cheap shot” viral video with Baron.
Kiko also accused Baron's camp for misleading the public by making it appear that he kicked the latter for no apparent reason.
In the latter part of his post, Kiko claimed that he merely reacted to Baron's rude behavior during their June 13 contract signing and May 26 bar brawl.
Tag nyo idol nyo.”
