"What we can do right now is to strengthen and recognize our film industry as an industry," says Liza Diño, the new chairperson of Film Development Council of The Philippines (FDCP).

The very reason why we volunteered because we wanted him to win without any intention of having any position.

I would like to clarify also that with this position, it was offered to us and we also agreed.

"Nag-extend din kami ng interest, sinabi namin na if we can help the government, why not?”

Paglilinaw pa ni Liza, “Ang first lang namin na ginagawa is to really have a courtesy call with the President, that was what we wanted.

“We never applied for anything. But according to the President's office, they are interested to have us help him.

“So, pinag-usapan namin ni Aiza. Sabi ko, 'You know what, it's a good idea.'

We don't have any hand on it, e.

“Ako, I don't want to believe it.

“I got the appointment letter and I received it from FDCP office itself last Friday [August 12].

“What we can do right now is to strengthen and recognize our film industry as an industry.

“Yun ang actually hindi pa natin nagagawa. That's going to be a priority once I take this position.

“Nasa mandato ng FDCP to work with bureaus and make new policies and procedures as possible.”

“Ang main concern natin is, as film workers or as movie workers, wala kaming classification sa DOLE [Department of Labor and Employment].

“That's why nagkakaproblema sa welfare, nagkakaroon ng problema pagdating sa mga working conditions, it's because of this.”

“But what we have to do is to create a very healthy ecosystem sa film industry.

“That is, nakakalimutan natin yung sa part ng distribution, I think yun ang puwedeng maging move ng FDCP ngayon.

"To give assistance, to teach filmmakers on how to address itong marketing and distribution.

Sabi pa niya sa huli, “Siguro magtulung-tulong ang mga filmmakers at mga tao sa industriya, even theater owners and producers, to come up with solutions to protect our industry.”
