Shaina Magdayao on why she's still single: "When you're younger, you're more fearless, you're more careless. As you grow older, mas calculated na yung ginagawa mo sa buhay. Mas pinag-iisipan mo ang mga risks na involved, kung worth it ba or hindi worth it."

In spite of persistent rumors romantically linking her to Piolo Pascual, Shaina Magdayao maintained that she’s “single by choice.”

At the media conference for her upcoming movie Single/Single: Love Is Not Enough, Shaina was told that her elder sister Vina Morales seems to approve of Piolo to be her potential boyfriend.

But Shaina firmly said, “Pero single pa rin ako ngayon. Dahil, I guess, hindi pa dumadating ang perfect timing.”

Shaina went on to say that she has been busy with "one teleserye after the other" since last year, and she hardly has time to think about matters of the heart.

Her last teleserye, The Better Half, wrapped up in September 2017, while her current soap Asintado premiered in January.

Shaina said, “Hindi ko po masasabi when would be that perfect time, but I guess I would know and I would tell everyone naman po.”

The mediacon for Single Single Love Is Not Enough was held at 9501 Restaurant on the 14th floor of ELJ Building in Quezon City last April 24.

MOMENT IN BERLIN? Shaina and Piolo were last seen together at the red-carpet event for the 68th Berlin International Film Festival.

Shaina and Piolo’s indie movie Ang Panahon Ng Halimaw, directed by acclaimed director Lav Diaz, was one of the competing entries in the festival.

The two co-stars were photographed hugging each other, fueling speculations about them being an item.

But in an interview with ABS-CBN News last March, Shaina said she was just pleasantly surprised when Piolo showed up since he supposedly missed the flight to Berlin.

“Apparently, the joke was on me. Everyone knew na he made it, nandoon naman siya. Kaya ganun na lang kami sa red carpet.”

NO PHOBIA FROM PAST RELATIONSHIP. While it has been six years since Shaina had been in a relationship, she clarified that her choice to stay single has nothing to do with fear of commitment.

In the continuation of her latest interview, she elaborated, “Hindi naman po yung phobia, wala naman pong ganun.

“Siguro nag-e-evolve lang.

“When you’re younger, you’re more fearless, you’re more careless.

“As you grow older, mas calculated na yung ginagawa mo sa buhay.

“Mas pinag-iisipan mo ang mga risks na involved, kung worth it ba or hindi worth it.”

The 28-year-old actress also pointed out that she doesn’t feel the need to rush to fall in love, get married, and have her own family.

“Kasi hypothetical lang sa akin.

“Hindi ko masasabi pa, e, promise.

“Apparently, marami pang pinagagawa sa aking projects.

“Ayaw pa akong pagpahingahin.

“Don’t get me wrong, I’m very grateful sa trabahong dumadating sa akin.

“So, in perfect time, mangyayari din yun.

“Pero kung kailan po yun, hindi ko po alam.”
