South Korean actress Kim Sae-ron has passed away at the age of 24.
The former child star was found dead in her home on Sunday, February 17, 2025, according to reports.
A friend of Kim, concerned when the actress missed an appointment, went to her house and discovered her lifeless body.
The initial investigation has ruled out foul play, but authorities are still examining the incident to piece together the events leading to Kim's death.
WHO IS KIM SAE-RON?
Born on July 31, 2000, in Seoul, South Korea, Kim joined the entertainment industry at the young age of nine.
She became a child star following the success of her movies A Brand New Life and The Man From Nowhere released in 2009 and 2010, respectively.
Kim starred in critically acclaimed films such as I Am Dad, Listen to My Heart, and the award-winning drama Barbie, which explores the theme of international adoption.
Another notable film of hers with historical and social themes was Snowy Road, which tells the story of comfort women in Korea during the Japanese occupation in World War II.
However, controversy stalled her career in May 2022 after a drunk driving incident in Gangnam District, where her car crashed, causing damage to structures and the surrounding neighborhood.
Reports would later say that Kim had to cover the damages out of her own pocket, which took a significant toll on her finances.
Kim did not renew her contract with her agency Goldmedalist in December 2022.
In October 2024, reports came out that Kim was making a comeback with a musical film and had already begun filming for the project.
It was also in 2024 when Kim was romantically linked to actor Kim Soo-hyun (It's Okay Not to Be Okay, Queen of Tears).
The speculation was quickly dismissed by his agency, Goldmedalist, which incidentally was Kim Sae-ron's former agency.
