The cast members of GMA-7's upcoming telefantasya Mulawin vs. Ravena were finally unveiled on March 27, 2017.
Mulawin vs. Ravena is a sequel to the 2004 GMA-7 telefantasya Mulawin, which starred Richard Gutierrez as Aguiluz and Angel Locsin as Alwina.
For this sequel, there are characters from the original version who will still appear in the 2017 version.
The original stars, Angel and Richard, are no longer with the Kapuso Network. Their former Mulawin co-stars, Bianca King and Amy Austria, are currently doing ABS-CBN teleseryes.
When this new telefantasya was announced at the start of the year, GMA executives described Mulawin vs. Ravena as a "leveled up" version of the original Mulawin.
PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) takes a look at the past and present cast members of Mulawin vs. Ravena:

ALWINA
In the first version of Mulawin, the Alwina character was played by Angel Locsin (left). Alwina was considered as the Sugo who will unite the Mulawins and the humans. She was the love interest of Aguiluz (Richard Gutierrez).
In the 2017 sequel, Alwina will be played by Heart Evangelista. Aguiluz and Alwina bore a son named Almiro (Derrick Monasterio). This time, Alwina will get a second shot at love when she falls in love with the Ravena Gabriel (Dennis Trillo).
Years ago, Angel auditioned for a role in the youth-oriented series G-Mik. However, since Angel was too tall for her supposed love team partner John Prats, ABS-CBN tapped Heart to play the role of Missy in the 1999 TV series.

GABRIEL
For the sequel, Gabriel is still played by Dennis Trillo. Formerly a human who discovered that he has Ravena roots, he is now the King of Halconia.
In the first Mulawin, Gabriel was the third wheel to Aguiluz and Alwina. For this new version, it seems like he will now win the lady's heart.

AVIONA
Played by Bianca King in the original version, Aviona will now be played by Carla Abellana.
In the first version, Aviona used to be in love with Aguiluz and saw Alwina as her competitor. This time, Aviona is married to Rodrigo and has a daughter named Anya (Bea Binene).
The actor who will bring to Rodrigo has not been revealed yet, but it was revealed that Tom Rodriguez will have a special participation in the story.
Carla admitted through her Instagram account, "I have been secretly preparing for this role in the last 2 months and boy was it difficut to keep mum about it. Preparing for the role physically, emotionally and psychologically was even harder. And this is just the beginning. FINALLY i get to reveal the most awesome role ever entrusted to me.-AVIONA"

PAGASPAS
Miguel Tanfelix will still play the role of Pagaspas. The young child from the 2004 version is now an all-grown up Mulawin.
Pagaspas also had a special appearance in Encantadia's requel in 2016.
The actor wrote in his Instagram post last March 27, "Being able to portray 'Pagaspas' again after 13 years is surreal. I've got mixed emotions. Speechless. Hearing our theme song play gives me goosebumps. Mulawin vs. Ravena is such a great blessing and now that we are back, we can assure all of you that our hearts will be poured out on this show"

LAWISWIS
Originally played by former child star Sam Bumatay in the first Mulawin, Bianca Umali now plays the grown-up version of Lawiswis and her character will have an interesting love story with childhood friend Pagaspas.

It looks like the BiGuel love team will be more mature in this telefantasya, especially Bianca who wears a tummy-baring costume.

SAVANA/SAVANNAH
In the first Mulawin, Savannah was played by Karen delos Reyes (left), a batchmate of Angel and Richard in the youth-oriented show Click. Her character is a social climber who is interested in Gabriel in order to get his money. This is also the reason why she hates Alwina so much. She later on turned into a Ravena.
For Mulawin vs. Ravena, Savannah's name is now spelled as Savana. This character is now portrayed by Charee Pineda who is staging her acting comeback after focusing on being a public official. In this version, Savana is now a rich woman who owns Hacienda Montenegro.

LOURDES
Lourdes is the surrogate human mother of Alwina in the first version of Mulawin. She was played back then by Amy Austria.
For the new version, she will be played by Angelu de Leon who now acts as the mother of Pagaspas (Miguel).

TUKA
Tuka was a Ravena who was transformed into a Mulawin. The mother of Lawiswis in the 2004 series was played by Marissa Sanchez.
For the 2017 series, Tuka is now played by Valerie Concepcion.

SANDAWA is known as the mother earth who has singing capabilities. She will be portrayed by Asia's Songbird Regine Velasquez. For this telefantasya, Regine gets to work again with her ex-boyfriend, Ariel Rivera.

MAGINDARA, the daughter of Sandawa, is known as the goddess of sea. She is portrayed by Lovi Poe.

ANYA is the daughter of Aviona who will be Almiro's love interest. Bea Binene will portray Anya.

ALMIRO is the son of Aguiluz and Alwina. Derrick Monasterio will breathe life to this new character.

Aside from being seen in Tsuperhero every Sunday, the DerBea tandem will also take on more physically challenging roles for Mulawin vs. Ravena.

REYNA RASHANA is the new Queen of Halcoria. She will be portrayed by Chynna Ortaleza. This marks her first teleserye after giving birth in 2016.
Coincidentally, Mulawin is the show that broke her team-up with Richard Gutierrez since the latter was paired with Angel in 2004. Chynna and Richard's tandem used to be one of GMA-7's go-to love teams to bring kilig to TV shows such as Click (2001), Love to Love seasons 1 and 2 (2002), Ikaw Lang Ang Mamahalin (2002), and Habang Kapiling Ka (2002).

RAFAEL is Almiro's best friend who will soon be his rival for Anya's heart. He is portrayed by Kiko Estrada.

The Ravena GRECO will be portrayed by TJ Trinidad.

Wyn Marquez is RIBAY, the right-hand woman of Reyna Rashana.

Dion Ignacio will play the Ravena SIKLAB.

Replacing Dakila (Eddie Gutierrez) as the King of Mulawins is DARAGIT, who will be portrayed by Roi Vinzon.

No airing date has been announced yet for Mulawin vs. Ravena, but the cast members already started taping their scenes last March 16.
This new GMA-7 telefantasya will be directed by Dominic Zapata and Don Michael Perez, who also helmed the Mulawin series in 2004.
