President Rodrigo Duterte tests negative for coronavirus

President Rodrigo Duterte and Senator Bong Go test negative for the Novel Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19).

Senator Go announced their test results in a statement released on March 14.

It partially reads: "The results of the tests for COVID-19 conducted on President Rodrigo Duterte and I turned out negative. We are fit and healthy to perform our duties

"But just like our advice to the general public, we will take precautionary measures seriously and comply with the advice of our health officials in order to remain healthy and avoid the spread of the virus while still being able to perform our mandate to the Filipino people."

President Duterte and the senator underwent testing for COVID-19 on March 12 after some members of the Cabinet announced they will undergo self-quarantine.

On the same day, the president addressed the nation about the local COVID-19 outbreak and placed Metro Manila under "community quarantine" from March 15 to April 14 in efforts to contain the spread of the virus.

As of March 13, the Department of Health reports 12 new COVID-9 cases, bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 64.

As of March 14, there has been six confirmed deaths of COVID-19 patients.

The country is under Code Red Sublevel 2.
