Former PTV anchor Kathy San Gabriel is now officially with GMA-7.
Today, December 14, Kathy started her duties as main anchor in S.O.S.: Serbisyo On The Spot, a radio program on GMA-7’s flagship AM station, Super Radyo DZBB.
Kathy replaced S.O.S’ former anchor, Rowena Salvacion, who has been doing other programs with DZBB.
S.O.S. has been Kathy’s first official regular show in DZBB since she joined the radio station in late 2019. Initially, she pinch-hit for other DZBB anchors in their various programs, including Super Balita.
Kathy is joined by co-anchors Atty. Romy Macalintal and Atty. Rowena Daroy Morales in the program.
S.O.S., which airs at 3:00 p.m., is a program that offers assistance to the public in sorting out government-issued documents, such as birth certificate, marriage certificate, and passport. The program also provides free legal advice to listeners.
KATHY SAN GABRIEL: FROM PTV-4 TO GMA-7
Prior to GMA-7, Kathy was a news anchor at PTV-4. She was part of the network for 11 years.
On June 30, 2017, Kathy revealed in a Facebook post that PTV-4 terminated her contract on June 28, 2017.
Her last day was supposed to be on June 30, but PTV-4 told her not to report for work anymore.
Part of her Facebook post was: "Kahit malungkot, tinanggap ko ang naging desisyon ng pamunuan ng network.
"Mamayang gabi sana ang huli kong newscast. Bagamat alam kong magiging emosyonal, gusto ko sanang kunin ang pagkakataong iyon para magpasalamat sa inyo sa pagsubaybay sa mahigit isang dekada kong pagbabalita sa PTV.
"Ngunit ikinalulungkot kong hindi ko magagawa iyon. Nagdesisyon po ang pamunuan ng People's Television na huwag akong papasukin mamayang gabi.
"I was not given the dignity of a goodbye."
In a separate comment on Facebook, Kathy revealed that her contract was terminated with “no prior notice” and “no grounds.”
A month later, Kathy became part of Panahon.TV, a newscast that aired on Cignal TV’s 24-hour Filipino newscast channel, One PH.
She also had a blocktimer program in GMA News TV in 2018 titled Me and My Town.
