Sa kabila ng COVID-19 pandemic, matagumpay na naidaos ang 57th edition ng Baeksang Arts Awards ngayong Huwebes ng gabi, May 13.
Ang Baeksang Arts Awards ng South Korea ang itinuturing na katumbas ng Oscars at Emmy Awards ng Hollywood. Ang kaibahan lamang ng award-giving body ng South Korea ay pinagsama sa iisang gabi ang pagbibigay ng parangal para sa outstanding films, drama, at TV programs.
Kagaya sa mga awards night sa Hollywood, present ang halos lahat ng nominees sa Baeksang Arts Awards 2021 na ginanap sa Ilsanseo-gu, Gyeonggi Province.
Dahil popular ang K-dramas and movies hindi lamang sa Pilipinas kundi maging sa iba't ibang panig ng mundo, top trending topic sa Twitter ang Baeksang Arts Awards at iba pang related topics sa Twitter.
Halos lahat ng K-dramas at movie ay available sa Pilipinas via streaming services gaya ng Netflix at Viu.
Sa TV category, tinalo ng veteran actor na si Shin Ha Kyun bilang Best Actor ang popular Korean actors na sina Song Joong Ki (Vincenzo), Kim Soo Hyun (It's Okay Not To Be Okay), at Lee Joon Gi (Flower of Evil). Nominado rin sa kategoryang ito si Uhm Ji Koon ng top-rating drama series na The Penthouse.
Nanalo si Shin Ha Kyun para sa kanyang pagganap sa Beyond Evil, na itinanghal din bilang Best Drama at Best TV Screenplay.
Ang co-star ni Uhm Ji Koon sa The Penthouse na si Kim So Yeon ang nagwaging Best Actress.
Best Supporting Actor si Oh Jung Se para sa kanyang pagganap sa It's Okay Not To Be Okay. Kabilang sa nakalaban niya sa kategoryang ito ay ang popular ngayong si Kim Seon Ho, na na-nominate para sa kanyang pagganap sa Start-Up.
Hindi naman umuwing luhaan si Kim Seon Ho, na kilala sa kanyang karakter bilang "Good Boy" sa Start-Up, dahil nanalo siya ng special award na TikTok Popularity Award, katuwang ang kontrobersiyal na si Seo Ye Ji (It's Okay Not To Be Okay) na hindi dumalo sa awards night.
Best Supporting Actress ang veteran actress na si Yeom Hye Ran para sa The Uncanny Counter.
Best New Actor si Lee Do Hyun para sa 18 Again, at Best New Actress naman si Park Ju Hyun para sa Extracurricular.
Maliban sa K-dramas, binibigyan din ng parangal ng Baeksang Arts Awards ang variety at entertainment programs.
Ang popular TV host na si Yoo Jae Suk ang ginawaran ng Daesang o Grand Prize, ang pinakamataas na karangalan sa isang award-giving body. Si Yoo Jae Suk ay napapanood sa popular variety programs na Running Man (SBS) at How Do You Play (MBC).
Best Male Entertainer naman ang actor-singer na si Lee Seung Gi para sa Master In The House, at Best Female Entertainer si Jong Do Yeon para sa I Live Alone.
