Arjo Atayde is starring in an international project.
He has been chosen as the lead actor of The Rebirth of the Cattleya Killer, an international remake of the 1996 film Sa Aking Mga Kamay.
Arjo stars as the "Cattleya Killer," a charismatic man later revealed to be a serial killer preying on unfaithful wives, whose monicker was derived from the cattleya flowers he placed on the bodies of his victims. The role was originally played by Aga Muhlach in the 1996 film.
The Rebirth of the Cattleya Killer will be produced by ABS-CBN Entertainment's International Production and Co-Production, which is the same division that helped the local production of Almost Paradise.
The first US T.V. series to be set entirely in the Philippines, Almost Paradise was top-billed by Christian Kane and aired on A2Z Channel 11, Kapamilya Online Live, and Kapamilya Channel from March to May 2021. It was co-produced by Hollywood's Electric Entertainment.
For The Rebirth of the Cattleya Killer, director Dan Villegas, who also directed an episode of Almost Paradise, will helm the project.
ARJO ON LATEST PROJECT: "iT'S ONE HELL OF A STORY."
Ruel S. Bayani, the ABS-CBN head of international production arm, explained how they chose Arjo to top-bill the project.
He said in an interview with ABS-CBN News, "He has a proven track record of giving justice to the diverse roles he has portrayed through the years.
“His depth and range as an actor will definitely give a fresh take on this 1996 classic.”
Arjo, for his part, is excited to portray the lead in the project.
He said, “First of all, ABS-CBN never fails to surprise me all the time with all these characters.
"It’s one hell of a story. It’s one hell of a character, and it’s not normally done here. This is one of the most powerful stories that they’re going to tell. I am proud to be part of it.
"Hopefully, The Cattleya Killer could be one if not the possible door to ABS-CBN stepping into the foreign industry.”
In December 2020, Arjo brought pride to the Philippine entertainment industry when he won Best Actor in the Asian Academy Creative Awards for the iWant TFC series Bagman.
More actors are expected to step into the project in the coming months. ABS-CBN has yet to announce when The Rebirth of the Cattleya Killer will start its production and airing.
