Dahil sina Ferdinand Marcos Jr. at Leni Robredo ang mahigpit na magkatunggali sa 2022 elections, diretsahang tinanong ng batikang Kapuso broadcast journalist na si Mel Tiangco kung paano maghihilom ang pagkakahati ng taong-bayan nitong nagdaang election season.
Umaga ng Martes, May 10, 2022, eksklusibong nakapanayam ni Mel ang spokesperson ni Marcos Jr. na si Atty. Vic Rodriguez via live phone patch sa special coverage ng GMA-7 sa #Eleksyon2022.
Pahayag ni Atty. Rodriguez, "Kami ay laging nag-aabot ng kamay ng pagkakaisa even during the campaign.
"From our side, I don't think magiging mahirap o magiging problema 'yan.
"We have always been offering our hands of unity to all especially when he becomes the president-elect.
"Sapagkat, Mel, we should rally behind the president-elect, kung sino man siya—at sa pagkakataong ito, lumilinaw si presidential frontrunner Bongbong Marcos—regardless of our political race or belief because he will be the leader of the country.
"We only have one nation, we only have one country, and that is the Philippines."
Idiniin din ng abogado na kakailanganin ang galing at talento ng bawat Pilipino sa pamumuno ni Marcos. Jr. sa oras na ito ay opisyal na maihalal bilang Pangulo ng bansa.
Sa puntong ito, sinundot ni Mel ng tanong kung posible bang may puwang si Robredo sa Marcos Jr. presidency.
Sabi ng Kapuso broadcaster, "Napag-usapan po ninyo ang galing at talento, kitang-kita naman po ng lahat ang galing at talento ng ating Vice President Leni Robredo.
"Di ho maitatatwa iyan. Do you agree? During the campaign..."
Pag-iwas muna ni Atty. Rodriguez, "Let's just talk about the imminent victory of Bongbong."
Tila hindi narinig ni Mel ang sagot ng abogado dahil sa hirap ng signal o connection ng live phone patch.
"I'm sorry?" pagpapaulit ni Mel sa sinabi ni Atty. Rodriguez.
Sagot uli ng abogado, "We were just talking about the imminent victory of presidential frontrunner Bongbong Marcos."
Singit ni Mel, "Yes. Yes, yes. And will that be..."
Sabay nagsalita uli si Atty. Rodriguez, "My statement is clear, Mel. We will be needing all the hands of all Filipinos regardless of political color, race, or belief, at handang magsakripisyo sa bansa ay welcome na tumulong."
Tanong ulit ni Mel: "Does that include Leni Robredo? Is there a space?"
Sagot ni Atty. Rodriguez, "It includes every Filipino.
"But for the position, I have to ask and yield to presidential frontrunner Bongbong Marcos because he is the appointing authority.
"And to refer to presidential frontrunner Bongbong Marcos, di pa kami nag-uusap tungkol sa mga bagay na iyan, Mel.
"Sapagkat ang malinaw niyang instruction sa aming lahat is not to look beyond May 9. It is only May 10. We have a lot of work to do."
