“I’ve lost contact with my daughter for years now. Recently, I’ve tried to reach out to her through her manager, but I’m not sure if my messages are getting through. So, I’m making this post," Eraserheads guitarist Marcus Adoro wrote, pertaining to daughter Syd Hartha.

Embattled Eraserheads guitarist Marcus Adoro posted on Monday, September 26, 2022, a statement addressed to his daughter and fans of the influential ‘90s Pinoy band.

Marcus is under fire after domestic abuse allegations against him resurfaced following the announcement of the Eraserheads’ reunion concert in December.

Marcus was accused by his daughter, singer Syd Hartha, and ex-girlfriend, actress Barbara Ruaro, of physical and emotional abuse.

The two revealed their ordeal in 2019, with Barbara posting on Instagram a photo of her face with wounds and bruises.

SECOND CHANCE

In his statement, Marcus said that he tried reaching out to Syd but is uncertain if his messages have come through.

“I’ve lost contact with my daughter for years now,” stated Marcus.

“Recently, I’ve tried to reach out to her through her manager, but I’m not sure if my messages are getting through. So, I’m making this post.

“Syd, san ka man, I hope you’re doing well.

“As you already know, I’m far from perfect kaya normal if you want nothing to do with me.

“Sana lang magkaroon ng second chance for redemption.”

Marcus went on to apologize “for the ruckus” that the controversy has caused to his family, the public, sponsors, and bandmates.

“Pasensya na,” the guitarist said before thanking the Eraserheads fans for their support of the upcoming reunion concert.

“WE DO NOT CONDONE ABUSE”

The past few days have seen the other members of the Eraserheads expressing their thoughts as the controversy continues to divide fans and public opinion.

“One of Ely’s non-negotiable conditions prior to signing [up for the concert] was precisely that Marcus resolve his issues, otherwise Ely would not work with him. This was promised by Marcus’ management, which was why we even reconsidered,” Diane Ventura, manager of frontman Ely Buendia, told ANCX.

Calling Ely an “enabler” was, according to Diane, “categorically false and absurd.”

She expounded, “We do not condone abuse. We acknowledge the pain and suffering of the parties involved and we seek accountability.”

Drummer Raymund Marasigan, meanwhile, said that he sincerely hopes that all parties involved “find peace of heart and mind.”

He also stated that he respects the opinion of fans about Marcus and the band as a whole, and understands if some supporters would rather skip seeing the concert.

Speaking to Rappler, bassist Buddy Zabala echoed the same sentiments expressed by Ely and Raymund.

“I can’t imagine the pain and anguish that Syd and Bie have gone through. I express my solidarity with them,” said Buddy.

“My fervent wish is for them to get to a place of healing. I sincerely hope all parties start processing what they went through and receive the help they need. They have my support.

“Call out bad behavior when you can and look out for your friends. This vicious cycle should stop. They might be going through something not easily shared or talked about.”

As for calls to exclude Marcus from the concert, Buddy said that it’s up to the concert producers to decide on the matter.

“Whatever the results are, I will have to abide by that, what the prod decides to do with the Marcus issue.”

The Eraserheads reunion concert titled Huling El Bimbo will take place on December 22, 2022 at the SMDC Festival Grounds in Parañaque City.
