Viral ngayon sa social media ang larawan ni 2018 Miss Universe Catriona Gray na kumakain ng empanada.
Imbes kasi na suka, na kadalasang sawsawan ng empanada na ipinagmamalaking local delicacy ng Ilocos Norte, catsup ang ginamit ni Catriona para rito.
Noong nakaraang Sabado, November 12, 2022, ibinahagi ng VPI Travel Ilocos Facebook page ang ilang larawan ni Catriona habang ini-enjoy ang Ilocos Norte.
Sabi sa caption, “Welcome to City of Batac Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Elisa Magnayon Gray.
“She visited Batac City and tried the famous Ilocos empanada.”
Sa isang larawan kung saan makikitang kumakain si Catriona ng empanada, mapapansing catsup ang ginawang sawsawan ng beauty queen.
Kinagiliwan naman ng netizens ang paggamit ni Catriona ng catsup, na kung tutuusin ay pwede rin naman sa Ilocos empanada bagamat madalas na suka ang ginagamit na sawsawan dito.
Mabilis na umiral ang pagkamalikhain ng mga Pinoy dahil ginawa nilang beauty pageant answers ang naging mga komento nila.
Sabi ng isang netizen, “I think, first of all, it takes bravery. To be a Miss World is to carry a bottle of ketchup. It is like action carried out by one to illuminate the empanadas.
“And I would dedicate my whole self, my love for the arts and my voice to try to uplift, empower and pour this ketchup to all empanadas.
“And it would be my greatest honor and duty to hold this ketchup high enough so that all the world could feel and see its spice. Thank you.”
Dagdag ng isa pang netizen, “A child once told me ‘Cat, ketchup is just not for empanadas and that suka is meant for it’ but I stand here today because someone believed in me. And we owe it to empanadas to enjoy them! Katokhang!”
May pagka-historian naman ang kontribusyon ng isa pang netizen.
Aniya, “I Think that Vinegar and Ketchup has always had a good relationship with each other. We were colonized by Empanada and We have Vinegar and Ketchup even up to this day.
“And I think Ketchup is very welcoming in Empanada and I don't see any problem with that at all.”
Isang netizen naman ang kunyari ay sinagot ang tanong ng regular host ng Miss Universe na si Steve Harvey.
Saad niya, “Well you know what Steve, as a Miss Philippines, I always felt the love and support of ketchup to empanada.
"And I think I have ate half of this empanada tonight. So I would name a song, Raise your Ketchup. Because I eat empanada here not only one but a hundred and four million empanadas! Hahaha”
Yung isa naman ay kinopya ang winning answer ni Catriona noong lumaban ito sa Thailand sa Miss Universe 2018.
Sabi ng netizen, "I ate at a school in Tondo, Manila, and their Empanada there is... it's poor and it is sad. But I always taught myself to put a sauce on it.
“To look for vinegar or ketchup amongst the faces of the children and I would bring this aspect when I eat empanada and see situations with a silver lining.
“And if I could also teach people to be grateful, we will eat have a world where delicious empanada would grow and foster and diners would have a smile on their faces. Thank you."

Kahapon, November 14, 2022, nagkomento na siya sa viral picture niya.
Sabi niya, “This comment section has me [skull, laughing in tears emojis].”
Ang “skull” emoji ay pamalit din na emoji sa emosyon ng taong halos mamatay-matay sa kakatawa.
Samantala, kung titingnan lahat ng pictures sa post ng nasabing Facebook page, meron din pala siyang pagkakataon na sinawsaw din niya sa suka ang kinain niyang empanada.
