Filipino celebrities at the Asia Artist Awards 2023 privileged to meet up close big-name Korean performers evoked envy among K-Pop and K-Drama enthusiasts,
ABS-CBN actress Kathryn Bernardo, in particular, became the object of envy of Filipino Stray Kids fans, aka Stays, after meeting the K-Pop boy group.
Kathryn shared the stage with Stray Kids as they received the AAA Fabulous Award, alongside Daniel Padilla, Lim Young Woong, and NewJeans.

One fan, using the handle @haniebuys, captured a photo of Stray Kids' Seungmin smiling at Kathryn as she was walking towards Seungmin's direction, with Daniel walking behind her.
The photo was shared on X (formerly Twitter).
The netizen poked fun on Seungmin's reaction and wrote, "teh nung maniac bihira ka ngumiti tas si kathryn nakita mo lang ngiting-ngiti ka pero sige go kathmin [emoji] KEMIE"
Film director Petersen Vargas, a dedicated fan of the group and also the director of Kathryn's recent movie A Very Good Girl, retweeted the post and commented, "Kung nireplayan mo sana ako agad @bernardokath baka naikwento ko na lahat ng kailangan mong malaman sa SKZ haha what a qt [emoji]."
Petersen also posted a screenshot of his conversation with Kathryn, his reaction actually to her interaction with the group.
The director, clearly fanboying, messaged Kathryn, exclaiming, "NAPAKALAPIT MO SA STRAY KIDS MYGADDD."
In response, Kathryn shared her initial impression of the Stray Kids members, confessing, "Akala ko girl group ang Stray Kids, p! [emojis] So nung katabi ko, I was like.. omg all boys pala sila."
Petersen then asked Kathryn if he could share a screenshot of their conversation on X, saying, "HAHAHAHAHA PWEDE Q BA IPOST TO SA TWITTER ANG CUTE CUTE MO."
In a subsequent post, Petersen congratulated Kathryn for the award and clarified he had her permission to share their previous chat.
He wrote, "(Our conversation is posted w/ her permission [emoji]) CONGRATS SA AAA AWARD MS. KATHRYN BERNARDO, the woman that u r!! [emoji]"
Kathryn's A Very Good Girl co-star Chie Filomeno responded to Petersen's post, saying, "Kath Kath, need ka na namin i-introduce sa Stray Kids [emoji]."
Petersen concurred with Chie and expressed his hope to convert Kathryn into a fan of the group.
He replied to Chie's comment, saying, "Magiging Stay rin ‘to i-project natin hahaha chz."
