“Talaga?” sambit ni Beauty sa shooting ng Paquil noong Marso 3, 2024, Linggo ng gabi, sa Cafe Emeterio sa Pakil, Laguna.
“Wow! Thank you! Overwhelmed naman ako! Pinawisan ako ng malamig, ha?! Salamat!”

FROM SUPPORTING TO LEAD ACTRESS
Suporta lamang si Beauty kay JM sa Kapamilya teleseryeng Angelito: Batang Ama (Nobyembre 2011-Abril 2012), at sa sequel nitong Angelito: Ang Bagong Yugto (Hulyo-Disyembre 2012).
Ngayon lang sila nagkatrabaho muli, sa pelikulang Paquil ni Direk Lem Lorca. Kumusta ang pakikipagtrabaho muli kay JM?

“Very mysterious in a way na… it’s good to be reunited with him. 'Coz the last time I saw him was in Angelito pa. Antagal na! Antaba-taba ko pa nun! Sobrang chabelita!” bulalas ni Beauty.
“Kaya nga noong unang eksena namin, parang… tropa ba kami o hindi ko maintindihan?
“But, you know, because he’s such a good actor… tititigan na niya ako, natutunaw na ako.
“So, parang andali lang to interact with him and of course the direction of our director. I mean, the script itself written by Archie [del Mundo] is really beautiful.
“You don’t really need to think about it much. It’s really you as an actor kung paano mo na lang ii-interpret yun.”
Walang masyadong pagbabago ang working relationship nila ni JM?
Mabilis na sagot ni Beauty, “Wala naman. Wala nga, e. It’s so nice, e, coz antagal na talaga and this is the first time I saw him.
“He’s still the same. He’s still crazy and I love crazy people. It makes the world beautiful.
“I’m crazy too in a good way, sometimes in a bad way — depends on the mood of the day. Ha! Ha! Ha!”
PAQUIL ROLE
Aminado si Beauty na nakakaiyak ang role niya sa Paquil. Mahirap bang gawin iyon?
“Of course it’s hard to cry. But you know, pag maganda talaga yung script at naintindihan mo yung pinagdadaanan ng character mo, madali na para sa akin,” sabi ni Beauty.
Saan niya hinugot iyon?
“Sa karakter mismo. Hindi sa sarili ko,” pagdidiin ni Beauty.
“Kasi hindi ko naman… God forbid! Ayoko namang ma-experience yun pero… like iniintindi ko talaga and I don’t know, I just try my…
“It’s hard to explain Art. When you explain Art, baduy na. So I don’t wanna explain my process. Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha!
“Sorry, it’s hard, e. Like it’s really hard to explain my process, e. And if I explain it to you, nobody will understand it.
“And I feel so baduy if I explain my process. Just like when I see Art. When I see Art, I rather the artist not to talk to me about what it is.
“Coz when he starts explaining the Art to me, ampangit na for me. Nawawala yung mystery. Less talk, less mistake.
“And just see how my Art will reflect to it, you know.”

DREAM PROJECTS
Marami pang dream projects si Beauty. Ibig sabihin, magtatagal pa siya sa entertainment industry?
Tumango si Beauty, “Oo naman! I’m still young, why not? I mean, kung kaya, di ba? Kung tuluy-tuloy ang blessings, go lang ako.
“Kasi, habang mukha pa akong OK, why not? Pag pangit na ako, na mismo ang magtatago.”
May mga artistang aktibo pa rin sa showbiz kahit senior citizens na sila. Ang iba naman ay nagreretiro pag nasa 40s or so na to maintain the mystery, the aura… maiwan sa alaala ng fans na “sariwa” pa sila.
Ano ang nakikita niya sa sarili?
“Well, ako kasi, yun lang, it’s just as simple as that. If I still look good and the role is perfect for me, why not?” pagmamatuwid ni Beauty.
“If I look bad in any angle and I don’t feel good about myself, I wouldn’t accept any project.
“Because no matter what I do, it will only reflect on the project that I accept.
“But actually I’m really privileged that my husband is allowing me to do these things.”
Napaka-supportive ng husband niyang si Norman Crisologo, gaya ng sinabi niya sa recent interview sa kanya sa Fast Talk with Boy Abunda.
“I know! Like people are so shocked about it but maybe not a lot of men has the balls to accept that women can stand for their own,” saad ni Beauty.
“Iba kasi yung husband ko, e. Lumaki kasi siya sa ibang bansa. So, it’s really different culture from here.
“And I like it coz it’s not normal. It’s breaking boarders. Grabe! Nag-pandemic na, 2024 na, come on! Let’s move on! Ha! Ha! Ha!”

Maganda ba so far ang karanasan niya sa TV and movie industry?

Napangiti si Beauty, “Oo naman, so far. I mean, it didn’t start that well. Lahat naman, mahirap yung simula. Naalala ko dati, mas malaki pa yung allowance kesa suweldo ko.
“Like, What am I doing here?' And then suddenly… ito talaga ang calling ko and tuluy-tuloy ang project ko.
“And people appreciate what I do, and my daughter loves what I’m doing, and also my husband. And that’s enough for me.”
Any particular project na inaasam niyang magawa?
Napakibit-balikat nang slight si Beauty, “Well, I do wanna do a biography. I wanna do a biography of Vilma Santos. I’ve been open about it. I feel I look like Vilma…
“I just wanna do a film with her. And I still wanna break boarders, like may ka-love team ako, mapa-bata or whatever age it might be.
“Kasi I really hate in the Philippine cinema na once you’re happily married and you have a kid, you’re already boxed type to being a mother type role.”
In fairness, hindi siya nata-typecast na ganun.
“Yeah, so that’s why I want to continue doing it — as long as I look good. Pero kung tingin ko, hindi na kaya, ako na mismo ang maghihindi. Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha!” paghalakhak muli ni Beauty.
