Cedric Lee starts serving time at New Bilibid Prison

Cedric's reclusion perpetua sentence has begun.

Nakakulong na ngayon sa New Bilibid Prison (NBP), Muntinlupa City ang negosyanteng si Cedric Lee.

Ito ay matapos mahatulan ng habambuhay na pagkakabilanggo dahil sa kasong serious illegal detention for ransom na isinampa ni Vhong Navarro laban sa kanya.

Ito ay sa kabila ng naunang pahayag ni Bureau of Corrections Director General Gregorio Catapang Jr. na hindi sa NBP ikukulong si Cedric at mga kapwa nito akusado na sina Simeon Raz at Ferdinand Guerrero.

Paliwanag ni Catapang, masyado nang masikip ang mga selda sa Bilibid sa dami ng bilanggo. Hahanapan pa raw nila ng pagdadalhan kina Lee, Raz, at Guerrero.

Pero nitong Biyernes ng gabi, Mayo 3, 2024, dinala na si Cedric ng mga tauhan ng National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) sa Bilibid.

Kasalukuyan siyang nananatili sa Reception and Diagnostic Center para sa proseso ng medical, sociological, psychological, educational, at classification na tatagal ng halos dalawang buwan.

Habang nasa Reception and Diagnostic Center, hindi maaaring tumanggap ng mga bisita si Lee sa loob ng limang araw.

Sa inilabas na mugshot ng Bureau of Corrections, ginupitan na ng buhok si Lee, nakasuot na siya ng orange T-shirt, at binigyan na ng Prison Number "N224P-2117."

Sampung taon na ang nakararaan nang lumabas noong Abril 27, 2014, ang unang mugshot kay Cedric. May kinalaman pa rin ito sa kasong isinampa ni Navarro na biktima ng pambubugbog ni Cedric at ng mga kasamahan.

Nauna nang dinala sa Bilibid noong Mayo 2, 2024 si Simeon Raz, ang kapwa akusado ni Lee sa kasong inihain ni Navarro.

Dumalo sina Raz at Deniece Cornejo sa pagbasa ng desisyon ng Taguig City Regional Trial Court Branch 153 tungkol sa kaso noong Mayo 2.

At dahil napatunayang may sala, dinakip agad sila at inihatid sa bilangguan—si Raz sa National Bilibid Prison sa Muntinlupa City; si Cornejo sa Correctional Institute for Women sa Mandaluyong City.

Gaya ni Lee, dalawang buwan mamamalagi si Raz sa Reception and Diagnostic Center para sa mga pagsusuring gagawin sa kanila.

Kabilang si Ferdinand Guerrero sa mga akusadong hinatulan ng habambuhay na pagkakakulong ngunit nagtatago pa rin siya.

Nanawagan ang Philippine National Police kay Guerrero na kusang-loob sumuko dahil patuloy siyang tutugisin ng batas.

Wala pang bagong pahayag ang Bureau of Corrections kung sa Bilibid sa Muntinlupa na talaga ikukulong sina Lee at Raz pagkatapos nilang manatili sa Reception and Diagnostic Center nang dalawang buwan.
