Veteran columnist and book author Barbara "Tweetums" Gonzalez passes away due to complications from breast cancer on May 28, 2024. She was 79.

Pumanaw na ang beteranang columnist at book author na si Barbara "Tweetums" Gonzalez, dahil sa komplikasyon sa breast cancer, noong May 28, 2024.

Siya ay 79.

Ang malungkot na balita tungkol sa pagyao ni Barbara ay kinumpirma ng naulila niyang pamilya sa pamamagitan ng isang Facebook post nitong Miyerkules, May 29.

Mababasa sa post (published as is): "Creative. Lover. Friend. Mentor. Grandmother. Wife. Mom.

"We invite you to let the Sound of her famous laughter guide you, as you celebrate her life in your own way.

"May all your good wishes light up the sky for this remarkable and beloved woman we were privileged to call Mom and Nannie.

"Close friends and family will be informed of a private memorial soon."

WHO IS BARBARA "TWEETUMS" GONZALEZ

Si Barbara "Tweetums" Gonzalez ay kilala bilang kolumnista sa ilang pahayagan sa Pilipinas.

Siya rin ay isang book author. Kabilang sa mga librong isinulat ni Barbara ay ang How Do You Know Your Pearls Are Real? On Single Parenthood and Other Ms. Adventures noong 1991, at ang We're History: A Memoir on History and Culture noong 1998.

Dahil sa husay niya sa pagsusulat, natanggap ni Barbara ang National Book Award ng Manila Critics Circle noong 1991.

Sa kasagsagan ng kanyang karera, pinasok din ni Barbara ang mundo ng advertising industry nang maging presidente siya ng J. Romero & Associates, vice-president ng McCann Erickson, at vice-president ng Coca-Cola Philippines.

Dahil sa kanyang malawak na kaalaman at karanasan sa buhay, nagturo rin si Barbara sa Sunshine Place, isang senior recreation center, kunsaan nag-aalok ng iba't ibang aktibidad at klase para sa mga nakatatanda.

Pinangunahan niya rito ang writing workshop, na isa sa maaaring pagkaabalahan at libangan ng mga lolo at lola.

Barbara became a figure of well-known artworks

Dahil sa angking ganda ni Barbara, naging subject siya ng ilang kilalang Filipino artists sa kani-kanilang mga obra.
