Olympic gymnastics raises the curtain for Carlos "Caloy" Edriel Yulo as he makes history at the 2024 Paris Olympics.

Achieving a monumental milestone by securing the gold medal in the men's floor exercise category, Carlos's victory not only marks a personal triumph but also scores a historic moment for the Philippines.
Competing in front of an enthusiastic crowd at the Bercy Arena, the 24-year-old athlete delivered a stellar performance, scoring 15.000—surpassing his previous scores of 14.766 in the qualification round and 14.333 in the all-around final.

His exceptional execution and difficulty scores of 8.400 and 6.600, respectively, eventually enabled him to clinch the gold.
In the finals, Israel's Tokyo Olympic champion Artem Dolgopyat secured the silver medal with a score of 14.966, while Jake Jarman of Great Britain, who led in both qualification and the all-around final, took the bronze with a score of 14.933.
Jarman is half-Filipino because his mother is from Cebu.

CARLOS BECOMES SECOND FILIPINO TO WIN AN OLYMPIC GOLD MEDAL
Carlos's win is particularly significant as he becomes the second Filipino athlete to earn an Olympic gold medal, following weightlifter Hidilyn Diaz, who achieved this feat at the Tokyo 2020 Games.
Moreover, the floor exercise gold also stands as the Philippines' first-ever Olympic medal in gymnastics.

Others have also pointed out how his victory serves as a fitting comeback from his Olympic debut in Tokyo, where he earned unfavorable results.
There, he finished 44th in the individual all-around and did not qualify for his favored floor exercise event.
