FDCP Chair Joey Reyes hopes that Filipino filmmakers broaden their creative vision by thinking globally. He explains, "Kaya ang importante niyan is we think of a market much larger than the Philippines, e. You have to think globally now without sacrificing yung pagiging Pilipino.

Maganda ang relasyon ng Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP) sa Cinema Exhibitors Association of the Philippines (CEAP).

“OK, and Filipino movies, which we have presented to CEAP, and we have a more extensive one which we’re giving them on December.

“So, maganda yung aming relasyon sa CEAP. Because we need them, OK. We need them greatly in order to disseminate more Philippine movies to our larger audience.”

DIREK JOEY SHARES SURVEY RESULTS REGARDING PINOY MOVIEGOERS

Not even C-2 and C-3.

“So in other words, limitadung-limitado na.

“Remember the year that Deleter was the biggest hit? Kasi iba na yung audience na nanonood talaga, na can afford.

NOOD KA MUNA!

“So that strikes an alarming bell, no? Tapos, naano namin na andaming… naku, you all notice, iniintay na lang sa streaming.

“Tapos kasi, yung window sa streaming, hindi ba, sometimes as low as 45 days.

So anlaking kabawasan!”

DIREK JOEY URGES PINOY FILMMAKERS TO “THINK GLOBALLY”

Coming soon sa New Zealand, Camboadia, Italy (Rome at Milan), Malta, at Middle East (UAE, Oman, Qatar, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia).

“Na alam mong shot in seven days. Or even three days, hindi ba. So you’re demanding a certain quality.

“On the part of the producer naman, ‘Pag gumasta ako ng PHP25M…’ Ano ang chances na mababawi ko iyon?

“So talagang chicken-and-egg situation. Kaya ang importante niyan is we think of a market much larger than the Philippines, e.

“You have to think globally now without sacrificing yung pagiging Pilipino.

DIREK JOEY ON THE CHALLENGES BEING FACED BY PINOY FILM PRODUCERS

“It never pretended to be anything else but a Thai film. Story is king! Story is what matters most. And we should emphasize on that.

“Ang isa pang naano namin, ano, ang masaklap… the romcom, it cannot just be the same kind of romcom we used to do before.

“I think a great amount of the challenge is with the producers because… any which way you look at it, they’re the ones that fuel the industry. Hindi ba?

“Hopefully, we can get the government to help us. You know, provide opportunities for films to be made.

“Even in terms of support, whether it is partial or full. But what is important is that producers have to be shaken to realize that, look, there is nothing wrong with purely commercial movies.

“I think they are important. But equally important is, for films to be made. Real Filipino films.

“But you know what, even though we’re fighting this uphill battle, ahh if only you can hear and see the works of the young filmmakers and their possibilities, ipaglalaban mo, e! Ipaglalaban mo.

“There was never a moment that we should doubt the capacity and talent of the Filipino creative, e.

“It’s a matter of giving them the right opportunities.”
