"Si Regine, would you believe I dated her once?" pagsisiwalat ni Raymond sa media conference ng kanyang concert.

"Yeah. I went out on a date with her once.

"Because I just fell so much in love with her voice, you know."

That's why I love the guy. He's the sweetest.

"You know... you know where we went on our date? Nag-dinner muna kami sa Bistro Lorenzo [Greenhills]. Dinner kami sa bistro.

"After we had dinner, guess where we went?"

"Yes. So I don't... I don't know if Regine even remembers that.

Alam kaya ni Regine na date iyon?

"I don't know. But in my heart, it was a date," sagot ni Raymond.

Pagbabalik-tanaw pa niya, “The last thing Mang Gerry said to me, ‘Anak, next time kami naman manlilibre.’

RAYMOND LAUCHENGCO: connecting gen x to THE NEW GENERATION

Bakit We Built This City ang titulo ng kanyang upcoming concert?

Paliwanag ni Raymond: "The City kasi, in my mind, is a metaphor for Gen X [born between 1965 and 1980].

"In Gen X, we are celebrating through memories, all of the memories of Gen X.

"So you have to look at it this way. I think Gen X, in particular, did really, really well.

"Think about it. We raised our families, di ba?

"We raised families. We built careers. We built friendships that have lasted the test of time.

"We drank water straight from the garden hose. We rode our bicycles until it got dark.

"The guys, we had Brooke Shields, we had Phoebe Cates. The girls had Menudo, Rob Lowe.

"No cellphones.

"Walang mga Google Maps. We had one superpower.

"You know what our superpower was, Gen X? We learned to rely on ourselves early.

"We knew where everybody was without having to text."

Pagpapatuloy niya: "That's what I wanna celebrate through our memories. So The City now is a metaphor for all of that.

"What are our memories? All the firsts.

"The first time we fell in love, the first time we held hands, the first hello, our first paycheck, our first dream that made us realize that anything is possible.

"That's what The City is made of."

First Lady of Philippine Musical Theater.
