Noong Nobyembre 24, 2021, nag-collapse siya sa dugout ng kanilang basketball team sa Ynares Sports Arena, Pasig City, dahil sa cardiac arrest.

For a time, nasa "vegetative state" Cabrera.
Unti-unting bumuti ang lagay niya, pero hindi na siya nakapaglaro ulit ng basketball.
Base sa mga posts niya sa Facebook, hindi siya nakakalimutang dalawin ng mga kaibigan, gaya ni Marc Pingris, para kumustahin.
ROIDER CABRERA RUSHED TO HOSPITAL AGAIN
Hindi nawawalan ng pag-asa si Cabrera na darating ang araw ay magiging maayos ulit ang kalagayan niya.
Pero ngayong Sabado, Hulyo 12, 2025, muling humingi ng tulong at panalangin ang kanyang pamilya sa pamamagitan ng isang Facebook post.

Nahihirapan daw kasi siyang huminga.
Saad sa post: "Roider Ross Cabrera was rushed to the hospital yesterday due to severe difficulty of breathing and his vitals were below normal.
"He is currently admitted in a hospital in Laguna.
"He’s been really weak, barely sleeping, and in constant pain.
"The doctors found an infection in his lungs, and now he’s being referred to a cardiologist because they suspect something might be wrong with his heart again.
"They said he needs an angiogram to check for any blockages, and if they find one, he may need an angioplasty right after."
Nangangailangan din si Cabrera ng tulong pinansiyal.
"The challenge is, the angiogram alone costs 50,000 upfront, and if he needs angioplasty, it could reach over a million pesos. ICU rates could reach up to 85k per day.
"Right now, our family is emotionally and financially overwhelmed.
"We’re humbly asking for help—whether through prayers, sharing this post, or any amount you can spare. Every little bit means the world to us.
"Thank you so much in advance for your kindness and support.
"We just want Roider to get the care he needs and bring him back home safe.”
