Kilala niyo ang original singer ng "Tanging Yaman"?
Ang Facebook post ni Senator Risa Hontiveros ngayong Linggo, Setyembre 6, 2026, ang dahilan kaya muling napag-usapan na siya ang unang nag-record ng liturgical at inspirational song na komposisyon ni Fr. Manuel "Manoling” Francisco noong 1986.
Mala-anghel ang kanyang malinaw at malinis na boses sa kanta.
Twenty years old ang edad ni Hontiveros nang i-record nito ang kanta para sa Bukas Palad Music Ministry.
Hindi naman nakapagtataka ito dahil bago naging boses sa senado ang 60-year-old public servant, siya muna ay nag-teatro.
Siya ang nagbigay-buhay sa katauhan ni Louisa sa The Sound of Music, produksiyon ng Repertory Philippines noong 1980.
Sina Monique Wilson, Lea Salonga, at ang magkapatid na Menchu at Raymond Lauchengco ang mga kasama ni Hontiveros sa cast.

Sabi pa ng senadora sa kanyang post, si Fr. Manoling Francisco ay "classmate ko noon sa Ateneo kaya pinalad din ako na maging pinaka-unang nag-record nito."
Ngayong Linggo, naglabas din ng impormasyon ang Facebook page na The Servant’s Chronicles tungkol sa kasaysayan ng “Tanging Yaman” at sa kaugnayan nito kay Hontiveros.

Nakasaad sa post: “The liturgical song, 'Tanging Yaman,' was created by Fr. Manoling Francisco with the assistance of Philip Gan, in 1986 and was only known mostly to church-goers at the time.
“The first person who recorded 'Tanging Yaman' was Senator Risa Hontiveros, who was then the classmate of Fr Manoling.
"The song was the title track of the Bukas Palad album of the same title, released in 1986.
“In 1992, Basil Valdez, who earlier also recorded Francisco’s popular inspirational hit, 'Hindi Kita Malilimutan,' decided to record an album of inspirational songs, Salmo (Sundin ang Loob Mo).
"Valdez listened to Francisco’s other religious songs and subsequently recorded 'Tanging Yaman,' among others."
Kilalang kanta ito sa simbahan, pero sa pop culture ay maiuugnay ito sa Star Cinema movie na top-grossing entry sa 26th Metro Manila Film Festival noong Disyembre 2000.
May estimated box-office gross of PHP167 million ang pinagbidahan pelikula ni Ai-Ai delas Alas.
Sa pagpapatuloy ng post: “According to Fr. Francisco, the lyrics of 'Tanging Yaman' were inspired by the spirituality of the great Carmelite mystics, Theresa of Avila and John of the Cross.
"It speaks of an aching for God of whom we catch glimpses in the beauty of creation and the goodness of people, but whom we cannot see or touch."
