“They are not contraindicated to receive the vaccine,” sabi ni Dr. Beverly Lorraine Ho, Director IV ng Health Promotion and Communication Service ng Department of Health (DOH).

Paliwanag ni Ho: “Some people have more serious comorbidities that requires them to have regular specialist consultation.

“Kunwari HIV [human immunodeficiency virus] patient sila, or cancer patient sila, sa protocol natin, it’s not enough that you get screened on the day itself.

“The recommendation is for them to get actual clearance from their specialists.”

“Nakita na sila nung mga doktor na tumitingin sa kanila for a long period of time, so, alam nila yung nuances nung sakit nila.

“But if it’s considered as regular comorbidities, like hypertension, diabetes, asthma, then it’s really the screening on site that will just be needed for them to get the vaccine,” paliwanag pa ni Ho.

ADVERSE REACTIONS AFTER INOCULATION

“It’s important to note that most of the adverse events that will be caused by the vaccine will actually happen within the first hour of getting vaccinated.

“Kaya ngayon, the set-up din talaga natin is the vaccination sites are mostly in tertiary facilities or kung maramihan na yung babakunahan natin, magmu-move na tayo sa—for example—school buildings or gyms, pero may nakaabang na ambulance.”

“If the adverse event is caused by the vaccine itself, so yes, that would be covered by the government.

BENEFITS OF THE JAB

“The vaccine can protect us from one, mild and asymptomatic COVID; second, moderate to severe COVID; and third, from transmission.”

“Most of them are in the 90-100 percent [efficacy],” pagtitiyak ni Ho.

VACCINATED HEALTHCARE WORKER DIES OF COVID-19

“NONE OF THE VACCINE CAN MAKE PEOPLE SICK”

Paliwanag ni Lobo, “The patient might have been exposed to a [COVID-19-positive] individual that she had encountered and then she might be incubating or… asymptomatic at the time that she was vaccinated.

“The COVID-19 vaccine does not cause, as we all know, COVID-19 disease because it’s an inactivated vaccine,” diin pa ni Lobo.

“None of the vaccines used in the Philippines can make people sick with COVID-19.”
