"National ID" took a top spot on Twitter trends on Friday, April 30, 2021, the first day of online registration.

Why?

The netizens complained about glitches on the Philippine Identification System portal

Here's one: a technical error warning on the PhilSys website.

Some who were able to input their e-mail never receive their one-time pin via text.

Reportr tried logging into the website's desktop version at 8 a.m. and got the technical error warning.

The Philippine Statistics Authority issued an advisory informing the public that they were aware of the glitches and were working on a fix. For updates, applicants were advised to check back on their Facebook page or website.

"We are currently experiencing technical difficulties. Our technical team is currently figuring out the source of the problem. We will provide updates as soon as the website is up and running. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused," the PSA said in the post.

The PhilSys ID or national ID is a unified identification system that houses important information and security functions. The ID comes in both digital and physical formats, along with a unique PhilSys Number, or PSN, you can give to prove your identity.
