“It will serve as a fitting memorial to two of the Philippines’ most brilliant theatre and film artists, Cherie and Miguel,” sabi ni Direk Loy sa mediacon noong Nobyembre 3, Huwebes, sa Seda Hotel, Quezon City.

Miguel Faustman and Cherie Gil in Elehiya
It was about the people in the estate,” paliwanag ni Direk Loy.
“Pero when we changed the focus of the film, it became about the story of the downward spiral of Dr. Celine de Miranda, yung karakter ni Cherie.
“By the time we were finished with the film, we were looking for a new title. And it looked like, in the end, it felt like it was really the story of the woman. Kasi, Elehiya, e.
“It could mean so many things. Elegy. Kasi, what do you do when the person you fall in love with does not love you anymore? Pagkatapos what happens if that person dies?
“So how do you resolve that? What do you own when it comes to that, di ba? So it’s really about that loss, e.
“And then after that, of course, part of it is already because that’s the last film of Cherie.”
“We started fixing it, 2019. But then, the pandemic came in,” salaysay ni Direk Loy.
Paliwanag ni Direk Loy, “There was no way we could get people to concentrate on the film. The politics came in, you know.
“I mean, everybody was involved in politics. So we started working on it again after, di ba?”
Wala silang reshoot or additional shooting.
Aniya, “Everything, lahat ng makikita ninyo ay from the original shoot. We just reconfigured the story. As I’ve said, before it was about the social critique of the people who live in the estate.
“Pero we realized that it was better to concentrate on her story.”
