Nae-enjoy na ni Ria Atayde ang bagong role niya sa entertainment industry bilang isang film producer.
Si Ria ang CEO ng Nathan Studios na binubuo nilang magkakapatid sa ilalim ng supervision ng kanilang inang si Sylvia Sanchez.
Sabi ni Ria nang nakatsikahan namin sa nakaraang mediacon ng pelikulang Fruitcake ng Cornerstone Studios at Create Cinema, ang isa sa ikinatuwa niya bilang producer ay nagagamit na niya ang kanyang natutunan sa kursong natapos niya.
"It's a new experience, it's nice," pakli ni Ria noong Setyembre 23, 2023, Sabado, sa Kao Manila, World Resorts, Newport Mall, Pasay City.
"Ang nakakatuwa kasi, nagagamit ko lalo yung mga pinag-aralan ko nung college. I took up Comm Arts. So, it goes hand in hand din naman with production, so masaya.
"Our goal din naman talaga with Nathan is to bring out the Filipino talents internationally, and to bring in good material that people should be seeing here.”
Medyo mahirap daw nung una, pero bahagi yun sa pagsisimula ng kanilang film production.
"Ibang struggle po talaga to be a producer. And the more na ginagawa namin, the more na nae-enjoy ko din po, at saka mas naa-appreciate ko din yung work ko as an actress. Like it goes hand in hand. Masaya po ako sa ginagawa namin sa Nathan.
"Medyo mas involved ka talaga. Hindi siya yung parang artista, you just show up on the day of the work or you study your script lang. Ito kasi, everything else is taken into consideration, e.
"Pati yung mga financials, iniisip mo rin as a producer. So, parang it's completely like it goes hand in hand, pero medyo iba talaga yung trabaho behind the scenes."
NOEL FERRER:
I knew Ria will be a good leader in the industry, kasi naikukuwento sa akin ng aking alagang si Iza Calzado kung gaano ka-active at kasinsin at kasipag si Ria sa AKTOR, ang grupo nilang mga artista sa industriya.
Kung si Ria ang masusunod, mas gusto raw niyang kapag nagpu-produce sila ng pelikula, hindi siya ang isa sa mga artista.
"Pero I think as a producer, ayoko sana someting that I star in. Kasi medyo iba yung attachment as an actor and as a producer.
"And like I said, as an actor, medyo mas idealistic ka. You want that you're working on to be the greatest thing ever. Like, the biggest budget ever.
"I mean, as the producer, you know that's not the reality. So, medyo parang huwag na lang ako magpu-produce ng aartehan ko, kasi masakit din siya. Ha! Ha! Ha! Defence complex."
Si Ria ang CEO ng Nathan Studios pero nandiyan pa rin ang mommy nila na siyang nagde-decide sa lahat. Meron naman daw siyang say sa production.
"She's preparing it for us that we really fully step in. My decisions are taken into consideration din naman po talaga.
"But at the end of the day, we ask for her opinion, kasi siya naman ang pinakamatagal sa industriyang ito. So, siya din yung mas medyo maalam din talaga," saad ni Ria.
Posibleng darating ang araw na mas magpo-focus na raw siya sa pagpu-produce kesa sa pag-aartista.
"I think that's a direction that we're planning to go. That's the goal ultimately.
"I mean Reese Whiterspoon does it, Jennifer Aniston does it. A lot. Nicole Kidman, it's so normal in Hollywood for actors to co-produce din."
Isa sa pelikulang iprinodyus ng Nathan, ang Topakk na pinagbibidahan ni Arjo Atayde ay nagkaroon ng world premiere sa Fantastic Film Festival sa Austin, Texas.
Pinaghahandaan na rin nila ngayon ang pelikulang Monster na nabili nila sa Cannes International Film Festival. Nakatakda nang mag-showing ito sa October 11.
Pero teka, bakit pala hindi natuloy si Ria as Spokesperson ng MMDA tulad ng napabalitang offer sa kanya noon?
Oh well, she has taken a lot of things on her plate na rin naman. Pero kahit anong gawin ni Ria, siguradong napag-isipan nang maayos para magawa rin niya nang mabuti.

“In fairness naman po, they’re very supportive with what we do. And, yeah, I feel like it’s open to whoever wants to help us, and wants assist us, to make it bigger than what it should be,” sey ni Ria.
Nagpaplano na sila for the future?
“Ayoko naman po… I mean, for everybody, even now, he’s very much… like I ask him also since he’s also been in the industry longer than me,” tugon ni Ria.
“You know, he does know the industry I’d say maybe a little better than I do. So, his opinion also really matters when it comes to decision-making with what I do sometimes, yeah.”
Pinag-uusapan na ba nila ang investment at iba pang mga bagay-bagay?
“Naku po!” bulalas ni Ria.
“Pero ano po, baby steps po muna tayo. We’re fairly new. We’re fairly new, yeah.”
Kakakasal lang ng brother ni Ria na si Arjo Atayde kay Maine Mendoza. Bawal ang sukob! So, next year, puwede na silang pakasal ni Zanjoe!
Natawa si Ria, “Ay! Grabe naman! Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha! Naku po! Agad-agad?! Ano naman po, ahhmm… basta, abangan nyo na lang if something happens, you know.
“Like it’s just… yeah, life. Life!”
Napag-uusapan na nila ni Zanjoe ang kasal?
“I feel like you don’t stay in a relationship unless you feel like it’s something for the long run,” saad ni Ria.
“Di ba? Why would you be wasting time if you don’t think that’s end goal. So I feel like that on its own.”
