Pahayag noon ni Chair Lala, “Numerous complaints filed regarding the show because almost all episodes are unsuitable for television.
“You cannot be talking about… I don’t to say it… but you cannot be talking about ahhmmm… you cannot be saying that kind of language.
“You cannot be airing that on TV. I’m sorry, ha, I just cannot elaborate because it would be sub judice.”
Pagdidiin pa ni Chair Lala, “The MTRCB is here as a regulatory body and we are here to uphold our mandate. We will follow our Presidential Decree.
“So it’s up to them, it’s their right to defend themselves but we already have a decision.”
“The Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) junked the Motion for Reconsideration filed by Cignal TV Inc. and its TV Program ‘Private Convos with Doc Rica’ seeking to overturn the Board’s decision on 15 January 2024.
“In its decision released on 14 March 2024, the Board upheld its verdict after finding the show with explicit content on graphic sexual experiences bared by its guests during child-viewing hours.
“‘The welfare of the Filipino child should not be undermined. As a Regulatory and Developmental Board, the MTRCB ensures that content under its jurisdiction fosters positive values and contributes to the moral development of children,’ MTRCB Chairperson and Chief Executive Officer Lala Sotto said.
“According to the Board, its decision was in line with the Board’s duty as ‘parens patriae’ to protect children from inappropriate content that may be prejudicial to the promotion of quality television programs and the protection of children’s moral development.
“The Board maintained its original position, stating that the TV program purely appeals to ‘prurient interest’ in violation of P.D. No. 1986.
“The Board remained unconvinced by the Respondents’ assertions and reiterated that the use of sex-laden language and explicit discussions on sexual experiences have no place during child-viewing hours.”

GORGY RULA
Pahayag ni Chair Lala, “We are really stricter with television programs because children can just watch easily with just a remote control.
“Sa movies, sa theater, we have full control. We are able to tell the cinemas not to accept children below a certain age group, that’s why.”

Puwede rin silang i-report doon at suspindihin, if ever.
Ang tanong, bakit tinatangkilik ang ganitong panoorin?
Sana, yung naturaleza natin, pati na yung support institutions like family, school, church ay magturo sa atin kung ano ang wasto at hindi — and given these platforms and programs, our true character will surface.
