Walang keber sa Ghost Month ang team ng "Pambansang Sad Girl" na si Jayda Avanzado.
Kahit sa Setyembre 2, 2024, Lunes, pa magtatapos ang Ghost Month, ini-release na ang concept album ni Jayda na Sad Girl Hours ngayong Agosto 30, Biyernes.
May particular significance ba kay Jayda ang nasabing petsa?
“Wala naman po, honestly,” sambit ni Jayda noong nakaraang Biyernes, Agosto 23, sa Cinema ‘76, Morato Avenue, Quezon City.
“There’s no significance with the date. But I will say in a way that I feel like everything happens for a reason.
“And it just so happened that naging ano lang talaga, everything worked itself out na ma-release siya ngayong August na ito.”

SHORT FILM FOR JAYDA'S CONCEPT ALBUM
Last Friday ay nagkaroon ng special screening ng short film na naglalaman ng walong kanta ni Jayda sa album.
Kabilang doon ang "Loved For Once," "Slowburn," "IDILY," "A.M.," "Right Lover, Wrong Time," "Rocket Science," "Lumimot Sa ‘Yo," at "Sad Girl Anthem."

“This project was, I guess, just like a combination of everything I’ve done so far. And it’s probably my proudest moment yet as an artist,” saad ng 21-anyos na si Jayda.
“I mean, just to get into detail before I made the decision to make this a concept album.
“Just because, you know, everything that happened to me in 2023. Ngayon, alam nyo na yung tsismis ng buhay ko.
“I would say that it really shaped me as a person, and it deeply affected me so much that it impacted the way that I choose to create my art.
“And I thought that making it into a short film, showcasing like the narrative of it and how my story is as a human being…
“Like what I wanted to achieve with the short film was for you not only to get to know me as an artist but to get to know me as a person as well.”

JAYDA'S FAVORITE SONG
Ang pinakapaboritong kanta ni Jayda sa kanyang concept album ay ang "Rocket Science."
Sabi ng unica hija nina Dingdong Avanzado at Jessa Zaragoza, “I really love it, and I love how personal it is. It was actually one of the last songs that I wrote for the album.
“The first track of this album, 'Loved For Once,' I wrote that song when I was 18 years old actually.
“A lot of time has passed since then and it’s just been a full circle moment.
“I think the gap between 'Loved For Once' and 'Rocket Science,' I think… a lot of my growth as a songwriter and as an artist was within that song.
“You know, I always read about heartbreak and love, and I always like wanted to challenge myself in terms of the themes that I like to write about.
“Pero kasi, subjects such as, you know, heartbreak coming in different forms, in terms of friendships ending as well, was a concept that I wanted to challenge myself to write, too.
“One thing about me is I’m a concept-based songwriter. So it always starts with that.
“Even before the melody, before the lyrics, I will think about what it is I wanna say with each and every one of my songs because I like to consider my songs to be truthful.
“So I think with 'Rocket Science,' I had the idea for that song back in September of last year.
“I had the hook but I never got around to writing it. And ahhmm I had to sit with my feelings for a while after losing that connection, losing that friendship. And I feel like I was able to do that with the song.”

Humugot si Jayda Avanzado sa ex niya para sa short film na tampok ang mga kanta sa kanyang album. May message ba siya para sa kanyang ex?
“Several people naman yung nag-inspire dito sa short film na ito. Pero ang masasabi ko po, honestly, like the song really speaks for itself,” sabi ni Jayda.
“Regardless of how people may interpret the short film, I really do wanna see… wish the people who inspired this experience is the best.
“And I know that some of these people might not be in my life anymore but in a way, I guess, this is kind of a love letter to you in a way.
“Coz all of you are really important to me at one point in my life.”

Bahagi ng mensahe ni Jayda para sa kanyang mga sad bestie: “When I wrote this album (and even before I knew that I was actually doing that), I always kept in mind my motto, ‘I don’t write to impress, I write to connect.’
“And I hope your take away from today is that you’re able to connect with my story, and the lessons to come out of it.
“Beautiful things can come out of pain, and everything happens for a reason. I continue to learn to trust the process.
“Which is trusting every hour of heartbreak both in love and life, and knowing that rejection is simply redirection.”
Ngayong meron na siyang album na may kaakibat pang short film, tumutulong pa rin ba siya sa mga gawaing-bahay gaya ng paghuhugas ng mga pinggan at paglalaba?
“Oo naman po! Siyempre, parang at the end of the day… ito po yung artist self ko,” natatawang sagot ni Jayda.
“Pero pagdating ko sa bahay, I am Jayda. Ako po si anak sa bahay! Si anak!”
