HARVEY BAUTISTA'S PROJECTS AND CHARACTERS
Natapos din niya ang limited series ng Rein Entertainment na Drug War: A Conspiracy of Silence co-starring with Ian Veneracion and Jane Oineza.
Saan siya mas natsa-challenge? Alin ang pinakamahirap gawin, so far?
“Iyon pong Drug War ang hardest na ginawa ko for… I think five to six months po yung filming namin,” tugon ni Harvey.
“I dropped weight to be able to do the role properly.”
Pagmamatwid ng young actor, napakahirap ng Drug War: A Conspiracy of Silence hindi lang dahil sa iniatang sa kanyang karakter, kundi dahil sa buong thesis ng palabas.
“It’s about recent history of what happened just a couple years back,” lahad ni Harvey.
“So, hindi lang siya mahirap in a sense na mahirap yung character role, mahirap din yung thesis, at mahirap yung ahhmm kumbaga iyung tema po ng ginagawa namin.”
Base ba sa totoong tao yung karakter niya sa Drug War?
Paglilinaw ni Harvey: “There isn’t much news about the show, kasi we haven’t done our promos yet, but it’s a war film.
“Hindi siya drug war project in a sense that it’s necessarily leaning towards one side or the other.
“It’s a mini-series about war, about the people in between the bullets that are being fired by all the opposing sides.
“The people in the middle who are being hit by the bullets kumbaga. That’s the I think the simplest way I can explain the show.”
Napabuntong-hininga si Harvey: “Mahirap kasi I’m playing a character with life experiences na I’ve never experienced before. Hindi naman po ako naging adik.
“I was never caught in between anything violent in terms of politics. The life I lived in real life is completely opposite from my character in Drug War.
“So, in terms of preparation, I dropped weight. Nag-research ako about… pag nangangati po yung katawan. Relapse. Pag nagre-relapse po iyung katawan. Proper relapse.”
May ganun?
“I mean, you have to [do research]. Kasi, this is a role about people who died. What, 7,300 something people died.
“So this is not something na, ‘Ahh hindi, show lang iyan. Role lang ito na parang ano.’
“No! Like, we are all representing people who were unfortunately killed.”

NOEL FERRER
Blue Room. Pushcart Tales. Drug War: A Conspiracy of Silence.
Mas gusto niya ang mga seryosong role kesa yung pakilig, pa-cute, may romantic interest?
“I find it more appealing, e,” sambit ni Harvey Bautista.
“The drama of it. Kasi parang… kilig-kilig roles are also nice. I mean, I did The Four Bad Boys and Me.
“That’s very… not cheesy in a bad way pero cheesy in a good way na parang these are all clichés na we are used to — four bad boys and one nerdy girl, di ba?
“Those are the type of projects that I would love to do every now and then but the stories that really appeal to me are stories that connect with people and have something to say.
“Like, it is very valuable to me that the projects that I join are clear in what they believe in.
“Tapos very vocal in terms of thesis saka yung theme ng ikinukuwento.”
HARVEY INFLUENCED BY ELIJAH CANLAS
A lot of actors. Andami ko pong nakausap that have the same mindset and I’ve honestly just adopted that mindset from people like, and I’m very open about this, Elijah Canlas.
“He’s very open. He’s very outspoken about the things that he believes in. And it reflects on his works. So that’s something na I admire so much.
“And not just him. So many actors that I’ve been able to work with. Nakuha ko lang po iyon sa kanila.”
Nagkasama sila ni Elijah sa pelikulang Blue Room. Pareho rin silang nasa cast ng TV series na High Street pero hindi sila nagkaeksena roon.
Naghubo’t hubad si Elijah sa shooting ng Cinemalaya 2025 entry na Raging, though na-edit out yung kanyang butt exposure.
Kaya rin ba niyang maghubad sa pelikula man o entablado?
Napakunot-noo si Harvey: “Paanong hubad? As in hubad-hubad? Siguro not now. Maybe not not.
“Coz that’s something na ahh once I’m more comfortable with my body.”

GORGY RULA
Kumusta ang Pasko niya this year? Single ba siya? Malamig ba ang Christmas niya?
“Ngayon yung weather, medyo malamig. December na nga po,” napapangiting sagot ni Harvey Bautista.
“No, I’m not spending Christmas alone… siyempre, I’m spending it with family! Hmmm. Di ba?”
Paano niya ipinagdiwang ang pagkapanalo niyang best supporting actor sa 41st Star Awards for Movies?
“Well, after last night kasi, siyempre gabi na rin, e. So, it’s funny. We were looking for restaurants last night,” tugon ni Harvey.
“Me and my mom and dad. Tapos sarado na lahat. Pero sa isip ko, sabi ko, nag-order na ako ng Andok’s sa Grab pauwi. Tapos, naghahanap talaga sila ng restaurant.
“Sabi ko, ‘Guys, masaya na ako sa Andok’s ko. Let’s go home. We don’t need to celebrate. We don’t need to get steaks and all of that big thing. Just let’s go home. Let’s rest. Lest eat Andok’s fried chicken, masaya na ako dun.’”
