Nasa ika-74 taon na ng pagpaparangal ang Filipino Academy of Movie Arts and Sciences (FAMAS) ngayong 2026.
Noong nakaraang taon ay dalawang awards ceremony pa ang inumpisahan nila, FAMAS Prestige at FAMAS Shortfilm.
May nadagdag pa, ang FAMAS Broadcast Arts Awards na gaganapin sa Mayo 4, 2026, sa Fiesta Pavilion ng Manila Hotel.
Sakop nito ang mga larangan ng radio, telebisyon, at new media. Tatlumpo ang mga kategorya rito.

FAMAS BROADCAST AWARDS
Ano ang rationale sa pagkakaroon ng FAMAS Broadcast Arts Awards?
“It has always been my personal mission,” sambit ni FAMAS President and Chairperson Francia Camacho Conrado sa mediacon noong Enero 28, 2026 sa Acacia room ng Manila Hotel.
“During the pandemic, I had a lot of time thinking how I can brand FAMAS. Because there had been a lot of requests actually, and emails.
“They asked me, ‘Are you gonna award vloggers?’ After the pandemic, I had discussed this with the brilliant people of FAMAS.
“And then, one by one, it’s becoming a realization because I’ve been the president of FAMAS for the last ten years, I’m going on eleven.
“As long as I live, I would love to give recognitions really to all those that are really wanting a FAMAS trophy, a FAMAS legacy.”
Inaasam ni Madam Francia na matupad ang kanyang misyon alang-alang sa susunod na henerasyon.
Isiniwalat ng artistic director ng FAMAS na si Atty. Vince Tañada na binabalak nilang mamahagi rin ng awards sa larangan ng Music at Live Entertainment.
“Hindi naman puwedeng sabay-sabay. So, inuna na muna namin yung Broadcast Arts,” sabi ni Atty. Vince.

RECOGNIZING TALENTS FROM THE BROADCAST ARTS
Dalawampu’t walo (28) ang competitive categories sa 1st FAMAS Broadcast Arts— walo sa Radio, at 20 sa Television + New Media.
Meron dalawang special awards — Broadcast Arts Icon Award, at Broadcast Arts Breakthrough Award.
Labu-labo ang mga taga-TV at taga-digital platforms na gaya ng YouTube, Tiktok, Facebook, at Twitter.
“Ang tawag namin diyan, sabung-sabong!” bulalas ni Atty. Vince.
“Kasi, we are recognizing talents, no. Yun naman ang legacy ng FAMAS. Hindi siya tumitingin sa laki ng produksiyon.
“Yung sa annual namin, because on my personal account, because I won in FAMAS in year 2021.
“After that, that was the time when Madam Francia invited me to be one of the jury members.
“Kasi, meron silang policy noon na kung sino yung mananalong best director, siya yung magiging next head jury.
“So I accepted that job and that was the time also when I realized na ang FAMAS, hindi siya tumitingin kung Star Cinema ka o isa kang maliit lang na produksiyon.
“At kami, with the very meager production cost, nanalo yung Katips as best picture.
“Kaya nakita ko that they are recognizing talents more than the production cost or iyong programa nga, ganoon pa rin iyong policy na gustong ipatupad ng aming Madam President.
“That we will recognize talents more than anything. And we want to pursue that with the first ever FAMAS for Broadcast Arts.
“Sabung-sabong, oo, iyon. Sabung-sabong at kanina, nakakatuwa nga iyong sinabi ni Madam. Na iyon iyung legacy niya.
“Kaya puwede na siyang bansagan na Queen of Recognitions. Kasi, gusto niyang mag-recognize nang mag-recognize.
“At yun ay na-extend, no. Doon sa FAMAS Prestige, na even yung mga the best in the field — business, medical, even government service — nire-recognize po namin.
“At hindi po kami tumitingin kung malaki sila o maliit. Kung ano po ang kontribusyon nila sa lipunan natin, iyon po ang nire-recognize ng FAMAS.”

Sa 1st FAMAS Broadcast Arts, ang walong competitive categories sa Radio ay Best AM Program, Best FM Program, Best AM Anchor, Best FM Anchor, Best Radio Drama Show, Best Radio Drama Performer, Best Podcast, at Best Podcast Host.
Ang 20 competitive categories sa Television + New Media ay Best Series (Long-Form or Short-Form), Best Anthology, Best Performer (Series or Anthology), Best Supporting Performer (Series or Anthology), Best Director (Series or Anthology), Best Screenplay (Series or Anthology), Best Variety Show, Best Comedy Show (Long-Form or Short-Form), Best Educational Show, Best Lifestyle Show (Travel, Food, Beauty & Wellness, Business, Hobbies), Best Magazine Show, Best Entertainment Talk Show, Best Public Affairs Talk Show, Best News Program, Best News Anchor, Best Public Service Show, Best Documentary, Best Show for Game, Reality, or Competition, Best Host for Entertainment, at Best Host for Public Service.
Dalawa ang special awards.
The Broadcast Arts Icon Award will be given to a veteran who started either in TV, radio, or new media arts and has greatly contributed to its innovation and better service to public.
The Broadcast Arts Breakthrough Award will be bestowed to an individual who has recently made a huge impact to the society through TV, radio, or new media arts.

Gender-neutral yung parangal para sa hosts and performers sa 1st FAMAS Broadcast Arts Awards.
Dahil ba marami na ring artists mula sa LGBTQIA+ community, at baka magkalituhan pa kung sa male or female ika-categorize ang isang nominado?
Halimbawa, sa kaso nina Vice Ganda, KaladKaren, Ice Seguerra, at Jake Zyrus…
Paglilinaw ng FAMAS artistic director na si Atty. Vince Tañada: “Hindi naman iyon yung rason kung bakit gender-neutral yung aming mga awards.
“To tell you honestly, noong nagko-conceptualize kami nito, napakaraming awards. Parang umabot ng 47.
“Kasi may best actor, best actress. Kaya lang, naisip namin, for the first ever FAMAS for Broadcast Arts, ito talaga yung totoong rason — nagtitipid muna kami.
“Because hindi namin alam yung magiging financial impact nito sa aming grupo, sa organisasyon namin.
“Ang trophy namin, napakamahal. The most expensive, I guess, sa lahat ng mga award-giving bodies.
“Kasi ayaw naming baguhin yung quality nung trophy namin. It’s a 3.5-kilogram trophy na bronze…
“Gusto namin, maraming magkaroon ng FAMAS trophy. Pinakahinahangad ito, e.
“Actually yung akin, katabi ko siyang matulog hanggang ngayon. Talagang hindi ko siya binibitawan. Talagang mahal na mahal ko iyong FAMAS trophy ko.
“Hindi naman sa hindi ko mahal yung iba kong awards na nakuha pero iba talaga yun FAMAS trophy. Rosa Rosal yun, e!”
FAMAS ON AVOIDING MISHAPS
Paano maiiwasan na masyadong matagal ng awards ceremony considering na 30 trophies ang ipamamahagi sa 1st FAMAS Broadcast Awards?
Lahat ba ay may pagkakataon na mag-acceptance speech?
Wala bang masa-Zsa Zsa Padilla?
Pinagkalooban ang Divine Diva ng Lifetime Achievement Award sa 38 Aliw Awards noong Disyembre 15, 2025, pero pinagkaitan itong mag-speech sa entablado.

Pahayag ni FAMAS President Francia Camacho Conrado: “We have a very good artistic director. We talked about ilang minutes or seconds lang ang ilalaan sa isang magbibigay ng speech.
“And by the clock talaga [ang programa]. Dapat pag 8:01, eto na. ‘Late ba tayo, ganito, ganyan.’
“We are very, very conscious of that because the extension rate at the Manila Hotel is P50,000 per hour. And we cannot afford that.”
Inamin ni Madam Francia na mahirap talagang mag-mount ng live show.
Ani Madam Francia: “Hindi kami puwedeng sabihin, ‘Ang bobobo nyo, bakit hindi nyo pine-page si Eva Darren kung andoon, kung nawawala?’ We cannot do it.
“Always kung sino na lang iyong nalingunan mo, isalang mo. Because it’s a live show.
“And others will not understand it. Kaya we kept silent on that. We don’t have to explain everything. Pero tayo, media people, we know exactly how it is.
“Kaya we really choose to be kind all the time. And we keep our silence sa mga issues na ganyan, lalo na meron akong napakataray na artistic director pero laging nasa lugar.”

Susog ni Atty. Vince: “We will honor all awardees. We will give them the time to speak. I guess, proper communication is vital.
“Ahead of time, yung production ko, nag-e-email na sa awardees o sa nominees. Na they are limited to one minute na acceptance speech.
“Meron doong mga nakalagay sa email. Na kapag sumobra na, magpapatugtog kami ng music, na medyo mahina lang din na music to signal na well, you have to wrap up.
“After 10 seconds at tuloy ka pa rin, lalakasan na namin yung music, na halos hindi ka na marinig.
“After 30 seconds, papatayan ka na namin ng mic. So, nakalagay yan sa email namin. “
Pagdating ng nominee sa Manila Hotel, meron kaming ibinibigay na card. Ang ganda nga nung card, e. Kasi parang stylized pa yung card.
“Nandoon din yung reminders kapag nanalo ka… at hindi na namin ibinibigay… well, simula nung ako ang naging artistic director. Lahat, iniimbita namin.
“Kung mapapansin ninyo, na nagsimula noong post-pandemic, uma-attend yung mga nominees namin.
“Yung mga ibang award-giving bodies, sanay silang, ‘Huwag niyo nang imbitahin kasi hindi naman mananalo.’ ‘Kasi nakakahiya. Nakakahiya pag hindi siya nanalo.’
“Sabi ko, bakit ganoon? So nagsimula, noong ako na iyung artistic director, lahat ng nominee, ini-invite namin.
“Sila na ang nagkusa na ewan ko ba kung bakit naging kultura natin ito na nag-iintay sila doon sa labas. Nag-iintay sa kotse. May mga nominees kaming ganyan.
“‘Pakitimbre na lang po kung nasaan na yung…’ Doon lang po sila pumapasok.
“Ito pong nakaraan na FAMAS Annual, halos lahat ng nominado, nandoon, dumating. Walang hindi dumating.
“Kaya nakakatuwa. Na sinasanay namin sila na ganoon. At lahat po na kategoryang iyan, allowed po silang magsalita.
“May limit nga lang po — one minute. Iyon po ang maximum.”
