Tinawag na “The Big Four” ang apat na film studios na namayagpag sa unang Golden Age of Philippine Cinema noong 1950s.
Ang mga ito ay ang LVN Pictures, Sampaguita Pictures, Premiere Productions, at Lebran International.
Hollywood-style ang studio system ng mga ito, na nagprodyus ng sandamukal na pelikula at lumikha ng iconic stars.
Kabilang sa Pinoy movies na umariba noon ang mga sumusunod: Sisa (1951), Ang Sawa sa Lumang Simboryo (1952), Ifugao (1954), at Sanda Wong (1955) ni National Artist Gerardo de Leon.

Sa pag-arangkada ng Star Cinema noong 1993, napabilang ito sa bagong “big four” movie companies.
Ang tatlo pa ay Regal Films, Viva Films, at Seiko Films.
Noong 2007 ay tumigil na ang Seiko Films sa pagpoprodyus ng pelikula.
Hanggang ngayon ay aktibo pa rin ang Star Cinema, Viva, at Regal.

Ang nasabing programa ay brainchild ni Ike Lozada (1943-1995), na host ng TV program na Big Ike’s Happening (1973-1984).
