Masaya ang 81 anyos na Noel Trinidad sa natamong feedback ng trailer ng pinagbibidahan niyang Family Matters na official entry sa Metro Manila Film Festival 2022.
"People have been approaching me to shake my hand, have their pictures taken with me because of the trailer," pagtatapat ni Noel sa mediacon nitong Disyembre 7, 2022, Miyerkules ng gabi, sa La Breza, Mother Ignacia Avenue, Quezon City.
Maging ang mga macho raw ang naantig sa portrayal ni Noel.
Ang kuwento niya, “For example, merong lumapit sa akin. Big man, maton! Lumapit sa akin, ‘Ang ganda ho ng trailer nyo! Naiyak ho ako!’ Mamang-mama na ako.'
"‘Salamat naman! Salamat!’ kako. And this has been going on."
Dalawang tao ang binigyan niya ng credit: ang writer na si Mel Mendoza-del Rosario at direktor na si Nuel Naval.
Sa pagpapatuloy ng veteran actor, “And may I cite two people responsible for this, not just the trailer but for the movie.
"I want to cite first of all, si Mel because of the wonderful story, the script. Nung prinesent sa akin yung script the first time, I told myself, ‘I have to do this!’ dahil pagkaganda-ganda nung script.
“The second person I have to cite for this movie, e, si Direk. You know si Direk, very quiet director but he guides you all the way. Hindi ka mangangapa."
Inilarawan ni Noel ang directing style ni Nuel.
"For example, pag gagawa kami ng eksena, hindi iyan bahala ka na.
“He will explain to us what the scene is about. He will explain to us what went before, what went after, ano ang relationship namin dun sa mga characters na nandun.
“In other words, hindi niya sasabihin, ‘Ganito mo gawin ang arte mo, ha?!’ But he will give you the ammunition so that nasa sa iyo na to portray what’s in his mind.
“So for that, I also thank tukayo, I call him tukayo, almost tukayo, si Nuel, because he really guided us in any scene.
“Kaya I was saying, sana merong category na Best Ensemble Acting in a Movie. Because surely, we will qualify for that. And that’s because of Direk.
"Because of Direk, somehow nabuo yung gusto niya. Yung gusto niya, nabuo because of the way he directed us.”
Co-stars ni Noel sa Family Matters sina Liza Lorena, Nonie Buencamino, Agot Isidro, Mylene Dizon, James Blanco, Nikki Valdez, JC Santos, Ina Feleo, Anna Luna, Ketchup Eusebio, Roxanne Guinoo, at Ian Pangilinan.
NOEL TRINIDAD'S ADVICE TO YOUNGER ARTISTS
Mahigit limang dekada na sa entertainment industry si Noel na nag-umpisa sa radio at teatro bago pumalaot sa pelikula at TV.
Ano ang maipapayo niya sa mga mas nakababatang artista upang tumagal din ang kanilang career?
“Actually, I don’t want to presume that I can give an advice to another actor,” gumagaralgal na lahad ni Noel.
“But if forced to answer, then I have to say, you have to be true to yourself. You cannot fake it! You cannot fake emotions. You cannot. Mahahalata, e.
“Sa mata lang, mahahalata na, e. So you have to be true to what you’re doing. And I guess that’s about all I can say.
“Ahh, don’t fake it! Don’t fake it, mahahalata ka. Mahahalata ka. So you have to feel it. You have to really feel it and believe in what you are doing.”
NOEL TRINIDAD'S "LAST HURRAH"
Nakatutuwa na nabigyan si Noel ng pagkakataon na magbida sa Family Matters.
Pagsang-ayon niya, “Oo naman at palagay ko naman, magtatagal pa ako nang konti!”
“Although I must say, I always say ito na palagay ko ang last hurrah for me. Ahh, and one reason is because of my hearing problem.
“But if this will be my last hurrah, then for me, it’s such a terrific honor to have this as my last hurrah!”
Sa tinagal-tagal niya sa industriya, maraming kasabayan at kaibigan niya ang namayapa na.
Napabuntong-hininga si Noel, “Two of my closest colleagues had passed on. I’m sure you know both of them.
“Subas. Subas Herrero. Parang kapatid ko iyan, e. We’d been together for so many years. Sa Ateneo pa lang, magkasama na kami.
“Magkasama na kami sa mga plays, sa glee club, et cetera, et cetera. And before he passed, nagkita pa kami. He used to live in the States. He’s one of the closest na nawala sa akin.
"The other one is Gary Lising who again I’ve known since high school.
"And… hanggang ngayon, naiisip ko sila once a while. I think, ‘Ahh, we did this before.’ ‘Ahh, oo nga pala ganun.’ And it’s always a nice feeling to recall.
“In show business, they’re the two closest to me and I still remember the good times that we had.
“Even now I look back and especially with Gary, pag naiisip ko si Gary, natatawa pa rin ako kahit na corny ang mga jokes niya, but the way he delivers it.
"Yun, yung dalawang yun basically.”
Pumanaw si Subas noong 2013 sa Rochester, New York, dahil sa double pneumonia.
Si Gary naman ay binawian ng buhay noong 2018.
