Nadine Lustre, Maine Mendoza, and Kathryn Bernardo delivered some of the most memorable movie hugot lines in 2016.

Just like in the past, romantic movies remained blockbuster hits among Filipino moviegoers in 2016.

More than 25 romantic flicks were produced last year, some them bearing elements of drama, comedy, and even horror.

The country's leading love teams released blockbuster hits one after another.

For the first time, Alden Richards and Maine Mendoza were paired for their solo movie Imagine You And Me. Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla also made a movie comeback via Barcelona: A Love Untold. Meanwhile, Nadine Lustre and James Reid treated fans to kilig-fest through their movie This Time..

Moviegoers were also treated to fresh and interesting tandems such as Arci Munoz and Gerald Anderson in Always be My Maybe, as well as Jennylyn Mercado and John Lloyd Cruz for Just The 3 of Us.

Having a love triangle remained a favorite topic for some chick flicks.

There was intense competition between Dawn Zulueta and Coleen Garcia for Piolo Pascual's attention in Love Me Tomorrow. Meanwhile, Jodi Sta. Maria had the biggest problem of picking between Ian Veneracion and Richard Yap in The Achy Breaky Hearts.

Characters from romantic movies often deliver dialogue that often tug at the heartstrings of viewers.
