After 77 days, the first batch of Pinoy Big Brother (PBB) Kumunity Season 10 has come to a close.
Fans have watched the celebrity housemates perform tasks, compete, bond, and be evicted weekly one by one since the show was launched on October 16, 2021.
PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) looks back on some of the unforgettable moments that took place inside the Bahay ni Kuya.
Alexa Ilacad and Albie Casiño's feud
It all started with peanut butter.
Albie was discussing the budget with housemates TJ Valderrama, Madam Inutz, and John Abajar, when John brought up that they should buy peanut butter.
Albie quickly disagreed, “Hindi talaga! Please, no. I will fight someone for that.”
But the other housemates tried to convince him otherwise, saying that they deserved to reward themselves for their effort in winning the weekly task.
The misunderstanding started when Alexa joined the conversation.
“Kuya TJ, peanut butter,” Alexa said, while Albie just shook his head.
Later, Albie was seen ranting to Eian Rances that he does not like how Alexa behaves inside the house.
“Medyo ayoko kung paano siya umasta dito sa bahay. Hindi niya bahay ito, kailangan niyang alalahanin iyan.
“Ano, porke’t matagal na siya sa industriya, ganyan siya umasta?"
Other incidents were brought up as well, such as when Alexa pushed him when he was cooking, and when Albie claimed that Alexa was hiding food inside her cabinet, particularly the controversial peanut butter.
Second nomination week's sudden change of voting rules
Two days before the end of voting for the second nomination round, the management decided to change the mechanics of the voting.
This drew some flak from netizens who found it unfair that instead of a maximum of 10 votes per account per day in Kumu, one could now submit an unlimited number of votes.
The change in voting rules had a big impact on the housemates' standing.
For instance, Anji Salvacion was trailing behind Albie Casiño in terms of votes. But due to the sudden change in mechanics, one user dropped millions of diamonds in Anji's favor, allowing her to overtake Albie.
In the end, Albie was evicted from the PBB house.
Anji Salvacion and KD Estrada's heart-to-heart conversation about their feelings
Probably one of the most heartbreaking moments in PBB history, the conversation between Anji Salvacion and KD Estrada left a lot of viewers in tears.
Before Anji and KD joined PBB, they had a close relationship as they were both part of the teen group Squad Plus. They were also among the new breed of singers featured in ASAP.
Inside the house, Anji was a little awkward around KD and tried to avoid him.
But when the latter opened up about his anxieties, this rekindled their closeness.
Things had to come to an end when Anji was advised by housemate TJ Valderrama not to get KD's hopes up.
Anji and KD then sat down in the garden area to have a heart-to-heart talk.
“You know, I still could feel that you like me. I hope na you wouldn’t take din, like what happened yesterday, like we’re alone, in a wrong way,” Anji said.
“Yeah, I don’t,” was KD's short reply.
“To be honest, I like to set boundaries din. I care for you, Kayds, as a friend…”
They exchanged a few more words about their recent interactions before Anji got straight to the point.
“Basta I really… I wanted to get this straight na there will never be a chance.
"I wanted to say this to you, there will never be a chance for us to have a romantic relationship.
“I care for you as a friend, the thing that I can offer you is my friendship and I hope you will understand that talaga…"
“But we’re still bros. Bros pa rin tayo,” Anji reassured him.
They continued to talk a bit more before Anji went inside the house. It could be seen that when KD followed, almost sobbing.
Alexa Ilacad WAS diagnosed with Body Dysmorphic Disorder (BDD)
In the November 2021 episode of PBB, Alexa Ilacad opened up about her body insecurities to Kuya as well as to other housemates Benedix Ramos and Eian Rances.
With the help of PBB's resident psychologist, Mr. Randy Dellosa, Alexa was diagnosed with major depressive disorder caused by body dysmorphic disorder (BDD).
BDD is a mental health condition that makes a person think that some parts of her body are flawed. In some cases, the condition can lead to feelings of depression.
TJ Valderrama's sexual harassment allegations
On November 20, 2021, the hashtag #FORCEEVICTTJ trended on Twitter. The reason was TJ Valderrama's "extra-touchy" actions toward housemate Shanaia Gomez.
Based on videos and screenshots shared online, netizens felt that it was inappropriate for TJ to hug Shanaia around the waist, among other actions.
However, this was refuted by the female housemates themselves. On November 22, 2021, host Toni Gonzaga addressed the issue.
She said, "Ang harassment ay isang bagay na di palalampasin ni Kuya kailanman, lalo na kung ito ay may patunay.
"Ngunit mismong ang mga housemate na ang nagsabing walang anumang nagaganap na ganito sa loob ng bahay.
"Nawa'y mas maging mapanuri at responsable ang lahat sa social media, at huwag manghusga lalo na kung hindi sapat at tama ang konteksto at impormasyon."
Brenda Mage on Alexa Ilacad and Eian Rances' closeness
In the episode aired on December 13, 2021, Brenda Mage was seen reacting to the growing friendship of Alexa Ilacad and Eian Rances.
It was during the impromptu double date set up by the housemates for Madam Inutz and Jordan Andrews, as well as Alexa and Eian.
When Alexa and Eian started slow-dancing, Brenda reacted, "Nakakasuka."
He then explained himself to the double-date organizers, Alyssa Valdez and Samantha Bernardo.
Brenda said, “Ang daming negative na sinabi si Eian against Alexa, and Alexa ang daming sinabi… And then in just one click, nag-ganoon sila.
"Oh my God, ang galing mag-switch. Congratulations! Dinaig ang Urian awards, ang MMFF. Oscars ang aktingan! Grabe, gusto ko itanong kung saan sila nag-wo-workshop sa galing nila umarte.”
Brenda then admitted feeling jealous and being taken for granted when he and Eian were given the chance to talk.
To which Eian responded, “Instead na mangibabaw sa atin yung awkwardness, sana magtulungan tayo na maibalik natin yung dati."
Eian also said of his friendship with Brenda, “Hindi nawala, hindi mawawala... Nabawasan lang nitong mga nakaraang araw dahil siguro sa mga nangyari. Ngayon, ibabalik natin yun.”
Alyssa Valdez and Anji Salvacion emerged as "Celebrity top 2" winners
The year 2022 started with a bang, as the top 2 celebrity housemates were announced on January 1.
Alyssa Valdez and Anji Salvacion emerged as victors, getting 22.63% and 13.60% of the votes, respectively.
They will eventually get to compete with the top adults and teens housemates.
The other three remaining housemates, Samantha Bernardo, Madam Inutz, and Brenda Mage, were all evicted.
The next day, Alyssa and Anji temporarily exited the Bahay ni Kuya, as the Adults edition ramped up. Both Alyssa and Anji received PHP100,000 each as their prize.
