In an interview with Anji during her PEP Main Attraction shoot, the Singing Sweetheart from Siargao got candid about her stay inside the Bahay ni Kuya and other milestones in her career.
Q&A WITH ANJI:
Q: What was your favorite PBB challenge?
Anji: Oh, my favorite PBB challenge is our last challenge, which is the tie-breaker para makapasok sa Big Five. It’s because yun yung pinaka-last na challenge na pinagawa sa amin na nag-enjoy ako, walang pressure.
Q: To think na para makapasok sa Big Five, ha, wala kang pressure na naramdaman. Because?
Anji: It’s because I’m with the people na I’ve been through my whole journey with sa PBB from the very start and these people, when I look at them, masasabi ko na they are really fighting for it but what we can do now is to unite and to just feel happy. I wanted to make these people enjoy our last challenge kasi ito na yung pinaka-last at doon pa lang, lahat ng burdens, lahat ng overthinking na nasa isip ko, I threw it out para mag-enjoy kasi yun na yung last ko. I wanted to make the most out of my experience sa PBB. This would be the last and this would be the one na tatatak sa isip ko and yun, tumatak talaga din siya sa isip ko.
Q: What was your saddest PBB moment?
Anji: Aww, the saddest PBB moment was when I had to make the most difficult decision in my whole life where I should hurt my friend for him to grow. Yun yung time na pinaka-saddest ko kasi I did everything, lahat ng parang pwede kong maitulong sa kanya, hindi nag-work. So sa isip ko ito yung way para mag-work is masaktan yung tao kasi there are times talaga, di ba? Yeah, I did it in a nice way pero hindi nagbago. So, what I have to do is to hurt that person.
I don’t want to hurt that person [pero] kasi for me, nawala yung self-love ko kasi kung baso pa ako, ito pa yung pitsel ko, ubos na, wala nang tira, kasi binuhusan ko hanggang sa mapuno, nago-overflow pero sa akin, wala nang natira.
So, yun yung time na parang naging sad ako at parang naubusan ako ng self-love. So, yun yung pinaka-saddest na moment ko sa PBB where I have to decide to hurt the person who’s important to me for him to grow.
Q: So, no regrets?
Anji: No regrets kasi that person bloomed and I’m so happy, I’m so proud! That person flourished and he bloomed and I’m so proud of that and I’m still rooting for that person, so yes.
(Anji was talking about her confrontation with housemate and close friend KD Estrada. She went straight to the point, telling KD there was no chance for them to have a romantic relationship. The episode became one of the trending topics of PBB during the celebrity batch.)
Q: As one of ASAP Natin's new breed of singers, your fan moment in the show?
Anji: Fan moment sa ASAP yung very first, nakakakaba noon, yung very first na palabas, kami ni Sam [Cruz] magkasama, KD was there, Diego Gutierrez was there, ta’s kasama namin si Sir Martin [Nievera]. I was ano lang... na-speechless ako kasi si sir Martin, tinuturuan niya kami na we should smile always kasi if we smile, hindi mahirap kumanta kasi yung parang dito, yung smile, yung vocal mo din... yung sa vocal mo sa loob nagwa-widen so hindi siya mahirap if you smile kasi when you sing, hindi mahirap kantahin yung song.
Q: What is your dream role?
Anji: Maging kontrabida. Kasi I know it is really challenging maging kontrabida. Baka akala ng lahat, easy lang mag-maldita pero no, you really have to... aralin your character mo and it’s really hard to portray a character na palaging yung may galit, may poot. So, it’s really challenging so... For me, lahat naman ng roles challenging pero para sa akin, I really like to experience [maging kontrabida].
Q: What makes your sun shine?
A: What makes my sun shine is the love and the support that was given to me not just my sunshines but my family.
