Loyalty Awardees: Sunshine Dizon and 17 Most-Loyal GMA-7 Actresses

Who among (L-R) Jennylyn Mercado, Regine Velasquez-Alcasid, Marian Rivera, Rochelle Pangilinan, and Sunshine Dizon have stayed as a Kapuso star the longest? Find out in our list below!



Aside from enjoying great opportunities and continued support from TV networks, loyalty remains a factor why some celebrities remain faithful to their home networks. We've seen a lot of transfers in different stations in the past few years but there are those who have chosen to be with their mother network.

Here are the GMA-7 actresses who stayed with the Kapuso network for over 10 years:

1. Sunshine Dizon

Sunshine Dizon has spent of of her lifetime as a Kapuso star. She started her showbiz career at an early age of three in movies and has stayed with the GMA-7 for over 30 years.

2. Regine Velasquez-Alcasid

Asia's Songbird Regine Velasquez-Alcasid started her career in the early 1980s as a singer and was formerly known as Chona Velasquez. The 46-year-old singer/actress has been with the Kapuso network for 18 years.

One of her first TV show appearances was for GMA-7's variety show Penthouse where Martin Nievera suggested for her to change her screen name to Regine.

Last January, Regine inked a two-year exclusive contract with GMA. The Kapuso singer/actress has always been grateful for the network's support especially when she had her first son, Nate.

Regine said, "I’m very grateful to all my bosses because I was given enough time to be with my son, I’m really happy about that.

She added, "Four years na talagang konti-konti lang yung work. Hindi ako masyadong nabigyan ng maraming load. So, na-appreciate ko yun, so thank you."

First Kapuso TV show: SOP (1998) with Janno Gibbs and her husband Ogie Alcasid.

3. Rochelle Pangilinan

Rochelle Pangilinan started as a back-up dancer on Eat Bulaga back in 1999. She has stayed on as a Kapuso for over 17 years but only signed an exclusivity contract with the network back in 2012, proving her loyalty has a Kapuso star.

In 2000, she was later included on the show's girl group called Sexbomb Dancers. The success of the group led to several chart-topping hits, movies, and TV shows that aired on the Kapuso network.

4. Chynna Ortaleza

Chynna Ortaleza started acting on GMA-7 in 2001 and was initially paired with Richard Gutierrez. The 33-year-old actress has stayed with the network for over 15 years and is known for her portrayals of different kontrabida characters.

Last January 2015, Chynna renewed her contract with the GMA-7 along with LJ Reyes and Ervic Vijandre. In an interview she expressed her gratitude for the support and opportunity she received from the network. She said, "Mahirap iwanan yung kung saan ka nagsimula nung bata ka pa. Yung ganong klaseng bonding, ganung klaseng pamilya."

5. Jennylyn Mercado

Jennylyn Mercado is one of GMA-7's homegrown talents and has stayed with the network for 13 years. She started her acting career in 2003 after winning the first season of the hit reality-talent search Starstruck with Mark Herras. Jennylyn was later hailed as the Kapuso network's "The Ultimate Star" and also dubbed as the "Romantic Comedy Queen."

Last July, she signed up for another exclusive network contract with the Kapuso network and said, "Basta andito pa rin ako, pamilya pa rin ako ng GMA."

When asked what fuels her loyalty to the network, she explained, "Ever since na, kahit bawat taping ko, bawat trabaho na ginagawa ko sa GMA, hindi siya feeling trabaho. Kasi ganun ako kumportable. Ito yung comfort zone ko, ang GMA."

6. Yasmien Kurdi

Yasmien Kurdi has been signed up with GMA-7 for 13 years. She was Jennylyn Mercado's runner-up on Starstruck. Just like any other teen stars, the 27-year-old actress started out with a teenybopper image. However, Yasmien was able to outgrow this image by accepting kontrabida roles from the TV giant.

Yasmien also went on a hiatus in 2011 to focus on her studies but still chose to be with the Kapuso network when she came back in 2013.

Katrina Halili debuted in the Kapuso network via the reality-talent search Starstruck with Jennylyn Mercado and Yasmien Kurdi. She is also considered one of Starstruck's most successful alumni for continuously starring in several Kapuso dramas and for being hailed as FHM's Sexiest Filipina twice.

Sheena Halili also entered showbiz via the reality-based talent search Starstruck. The 29-year-old actress was later became hailed as the Kapuso network's "Pambansang Best Friend" after starring a support roles in different daytime and primetime shows.

In her 13 years in showbiz, she has also proved her skills in drama and comedy. Her biggest break was the drama-comedy Binoy Henyo in 2013 where she played a mother role.

9. Ryza Cenon

Ryza Cenon is also another product of GMA-7's Starstruck. She became the Ultimate Female Survivor of the show's sophomore season and has stayed with the network for 12 years.

Like Katrina Halili, Ryza took the kontrabida path and starred as the main antagonist in several Kapuso shows. One of her biggest breaks in showbiz is the telefantasya Machete with Aljur Abrenica in which aired in 2011.

LJ Reyes remained faithful to the Kapuso network for 12 years. She was also a finalist on Starstruck 2 and was Ryza's runner-up in the competition. She also took the villainess path through the years but has also excelled as the heroine of several Kapuso dramas.

Last January 2015, she renewed her contract with the Kapuso network and said, "Actually, yung pakiramdam ano lang siya, e, parang feeling ko naman dito talaga ako tatanda. Yung signing, parang celebration lang, new chapter ulit ng career ko, ng relationship ko with the network."

Teen star Bea Binene started out in showbiz at the age of 7. She was a finalist on Starstruck Kids with Miguel Tanfelix and Paul Salas. As a child star, she excelled on hosting and later proved that she can also lead a cast of a TV series.

On her 10th year in showbiz, she signed her first exclusive contract with the network back in 2014 and said, "Siyempre happy kasi narito pa rin ako sa network kung saan ako lumaki, kung saan 10 years na 'ko ang counting."

12. Marian Rivera

Marian Rivera started out as a commercial model before she was hailed as the Kapuso network's "Primetime Queen." TAPE Inc.'s Tony Tuviera discovered her in 2005 and included the actress in several daytime dramas in the network.

Her acting career also started with mother roles in Muli and Super Twins until she bagged the role of Marimar, opposite her now husband Dingdong Dantes. Since then, she has starred in numerous primetime shows for the Kapuso network.

In a previous interview, Marian expressed her loyalty to the Kapuso network and said, "Siyempre, napakasarap ng pakiramdam ko na muli akong pumirma sa GMA. Bilang alam naman nating lahat na ang GMA, e, malaki ang utang na loob ko... na kung hindi naman dahil sa GMA, e, wala rin Marian Rivera na mabubuo."

Jackie Rice was also a product of Starstruck and won as the Ultimate Female Survivor for the third season of the reality-based talent search. The 26-year-old actress is a well-known anti-hero in different Kapuso dramas but has also proved her worth as a leading lady.

Jackie has been grateful to the network for giving her several chances to prove herself as an actress. With this in mind, she pledged her loyalty to the network.

The Kapuso star said, "Napakasuwerte ko para bigyan pa nila ako ng pagkakataon kasi gusto ko talagang magbago, and hinayaan naman nila akong magbago. Ipinakita ko nga, ito, sobrang trabaho. Mahal ko yung ginagawa ko, and I'm sure nakikita naman nila yun, kaya happy rin sila para sa akin."

At the age of 16, she entered GMA-7 in 2006 and has remained loyal to the network for a decade. The network witnessed her development as a celebrity from acting to hosting and even singing.

Last January, she renewed her contract with the network which she considers her second family. The 26-year-old actress told reporters, "Dito naman ako sa GMA nagsimula 10 years ago." She continued, "[GMA is] pretty much my family, dito na ako lumaki."

GMA-7's Premiere Actress Lovi Poe also remained loyal to the network for 10 years. It's no secret the Lovi is the daughter of the late action star Fernando Poe Jr. but this didn't stop her to make a name for herself. She stood out as one of the network's most-sought after primetime actresses starring from one soap to another.

Lovi has been grateful to her home network for giving her such opportunities. Early this year, she signed up for another exclusive contract with the network. She told the press, "Nagpapasalamat ako dahil palagi nila akong binibigyan ng opportunity to actually work on what I’m really passionate about which is acting and performing in front of the people who are supportive."

16. Julie Ann San Jose

Julie Ann San Jose is also a homegrown talent of the Kapuso network. She first joined Eat Bulaga's Little Miss Philippines at the age of three but didn't immediately pursue a showbiz career after joining the competition. She came back in 2005 through Popstar Kids and won the talent competition. Since then, Julie Anne became the Kapuso network's top pop star and has starred in several TV series and movies as well.

Last August, she signed up for another exclusivity contract with the Kapuso network and thanked them for their trust. Julie Ann said, "Ever since po talaga ito na yung tahanan ko eh kasi I started really young and then I grew up na rin, parang dito na po talaga ako lumaki. Sobrang thankful po ako na nabigyan po ako ng opportunity to be with GMA."

Another graduate of Starstruck, Kris Bernal emerged as one of the Kapuso network's top leading ladies. In the show, she won the Ultimate Love Team title with Mart Escudero but her team up with Aljur Abrenica became even more successful.

In an interview with PEP.ph, Kris expressed her gratitude towards GMA-7 for giving her quality projects through the years. She said, "Thankful din ako dahil binibigyan ako ng GMA ng mga projects na alam mo yun, hindi lang rin basta-basta. Katulad nung Coffee Prince dati, pinanood ko nang paulit ulit yun pala, ako yung gaganap sa GMA, di ba? Dun talaga ako sa mas thankful ako sa lahat ng nangyari at grateful ako kaysa sa kinakabahan at pressured ako."

18. Krystal Reyes

Krystal Reyes also grew up before our eyes and has stayed half of her life as a Kapuso. She entered showbiz at the age of 10. Krystal received her biggest break through Bakekang where she played a character of the same name. After the show, she was able to keep her character's name and use it as her screen name. Currently, she has been experimenting with the roles she's accepting to veer away from her "pa-tweetums" image.
