After 20 years of being together and 10 years of being engaged ay natupad na ang matagal nang plano nina Diego Castro at Angela Lagunzad: ang magpakasal.
Ngayon ay officially Mr. and Mrs. Diego and Angela Castro na sila.
Idinaos ang kanilang simpleng garden wedding noong May 12, 2023, sa House of XO sa Horseshoe Village in Quezon City.
Ayon sa Facebook post ni Diego (published as is): "Sa Wakas! After 20 years I finally sealed the deal with Angela Lagunzad. We may be different, but it’s our differences that makes us perfect. You are the yin to yang, the calm to my chaos. And as the song goes, 'I’ll be there for you.' #angeladiegosawakas"

DIEGO CASTRO AND ANGELA LAGUNZAD'S LOve story
Sa ekslusibong panayam ng PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) sa newlyweds noong nakaraang May 15 via Facebook Messenger, inalam namin ang tungkol sa love story nila, at kung bakit inabot ng dalawang dekada bago sila opisyal na kinasal.
Maraming nag-akala na renewal of vows ang nangyari, pero ito pala ang matagal na nilang gustong mangyari na wedding.
Bungad ni Diego, "Sa wakas, after 20 years, we tied the knot. So yes, first ito."
Pagkumpirma naman ni Angela, "Yes, it's our first wedding ceremony."
Ayon sa dalawa, una silang nagkakilala noong November 2003.
Kuwento ni Angela, "I met Diego in his birthday party at his restaurant Sitio Diego near ABS-CBN. I was invited by one of this best friends, who was my college classmate then."
Umamin si Diego na nabighani siya kay Angela. Aniya, "Of course, since ang ganda niya, tinitigan ko siya the whole night. Siyempre, I asked for her cell number."
Kung para kay Diego ay "special and intense" ang unang pagkikitang ito, iba naman para kay Angela.
Pag-amin nito, "It was hard to define it at that time. But it was definitely something different, and, like what he said, special."
Dagdag naman ni Diego, "Love developed quickly after."
DIEGO CASTRO's proposal to ANGELA LAGUNZAD
Matagal nagsama sina Diego at Angela bago nag-propose si Diego noong 2014.
Sabi ni Angela, "By the time of the proposal, we were already 11 years in our relationship, and our son Mio was seven years old that time."
Nangyari ang proposal sa set ng Good Morning Kuya, ang defunct UNTV morning show kung saan hosts sina Diego at Angela.
Kuwento ni Diego, "I took a break from our morning show sa UNTV kasi I was doing a teleserye at GMA.
"She went to work, and she did not know na sumunod ako. My daughters Claire, Rafa, Giana, and our son, Mio, proposed to Angel for me.
"Tapos surprise entrance ako!"
OVERCOMING CHALLENGES
Pumasok sa relasyon sina Diego at Angela na may kanya-kanyang baggage, pero hindi sila natinag nito.
Sabi ni Diego, "From the start naman, she knew who I was, and she knows all about my past, but she still accepted it. And she became close with my kids."
Ang panganay ni Diego na si Claire Castro ay anak niya kay Raven Villanueva; habang may dalawa naman siyang anak—sina Gianna at Rafa—kay Rina Rosal.
Pagsang-ayon ni Angela, "Tama, we were both open with each other. I knew that he has three daughters who are all wonderful, and I love them dearly."
Pero aminado si Angela na pagdating sa kani-kanilang mga magulang, hindi naging madali ang pagtanggap ng mga ito sa kanilang relasyon.
Paglalahad niya, "But my mama didn't like him at first, pero iba na ngayon. Super magkakampi na sila and my mom loves him so much.
"Diego's parents, Tito Angelo and Tita June, they were a little skeptical too at first, pero sandali lang iyon, and they soon showed that they love me for Diego."

Dahil dalawang dekada silang nagsama, imposibleng wala silang pinagdaanang anumang hirap.
Sabi ni Angela, "typical" naman ang magkaroon ng "multiple fights" lalo na kapag bago pa lang ang relasyon.
Paliwanag ni Diego, "As we grew older lang, we knew how to control it better. We never sleep with anger in our hearts."
Paglalahad naman ni Angela, "If there would be any arguments or misunderstanding, there is a silent rule that we follow. We don't talk about whatever we were fighting about and we should resolve it before we go to sleep."
Malaking bagay sa kanilang relasyon ang pananalig nila sa Diyos.
Ani Diego, "When we almost let pride and anger take over, It was bumpy for a while. But our shared faith in God and love for each other overcame that."
Dagdag pa ni Angela, "We would be hypocrites if we would say that there were no low points, but what got us through was the love of the Lord and our love for each other prevailed over pride and hatred."
Ito raw ang dahilan kung bakit napili nilang wedding song ang Boyce Avenue version ng "I'll Be There For You," na kinanta ng The Rembrants bilang theme song ng hit TV show na F.R.I.E.N.D.S.
Kuwento ni Angela, "That's my walking down the aisle song because aside from F.R.I.E.N.D.S. being one of our favorite series, this best describes our relationship because we've been there for each other for the highs and lows of our relationship.
"Yes, we bicker, we fight, there are times when we felt it was the end of the road for both of us. But love always wins. We are each other's true north, endgame. He's the Ross to my Rachel.
"And for the next 20 years of our lives, we will still be there for each other."

Hindi biro ang mapanatili ang isang relasyon for 20 years and more.
Ano ang sikreto nila?
Pag-reveal ni Diego, "Constant surprises, little acts of kindness and love to each other, and important din na kasama ang date nights."
Para naman kay Angela, "A lot of effort, understanding, and sweetness on Diego's part. And little acts of love every day.
"Sa totoo lang, Diego is the really sweet one sa aming dalawa. Ako kasi, I don't know how to really express my emotions."
Mahalaga rin daw to "look good for each other every day," ayon kay Angela.
In a few years, magiging empty nesters na sina Diego at Angela. Paano nila haharapin ito?
Ani Angela, "Well, Diego's daughters are already living on their own. Our son Mio is already 15 years old and in a few more years, he would be on his own as well.
"That's why we spend lots of time with him as much as we can. We want to make lots of memories with him like having family nights, family massages, playing board games and watching our favorite movies."
Pagdating ng panahon na silang mag-asawa na lang ang magkasama, "traveling is definitely on the plate," sabi ni Angela.
Dagdag ni Diego, "I guess, we will explore the world together. Watch tons of movies and eat good food."
