Dingdong Dantes capped off 2023 with a bang, setting the tone for a productive 2024 for the actor dubbed as the Kapuso Primetime King.
Indeed, he is king at the Kapuso channel, GMA7.
He was part of two standout entries in last year’s record-breaking and highly competitive Metro Manila Film Festival: Firefly, a co-production of GMA Films, where he had a crucial role; and Rewind, where he shared the full spotlight with his wife, Marian Rivera, who is also a Kapuso talent and who had her own very remarkable year.
Rewind was a blockbuster hit that earned over Php 900 million, according to the film’s other co-producer, Star Cinema, making it the highest-grossing Philippine film of all time.

The film held this distinction for ten months before being surpassed by Hello, Love, Again by Kathryn Bernardo and Alden Richards in November of 2024.

The movie's huge financial gains more than made up for its lack of awards in the festival’s awarding ceremony, which was dominated by the historical biographical film, GomBurZa.
However, Rewind would earn accolades from various award-giving bodies months after leading the box office at the annual film festival.
Dingdong received multiple Best Actor awards from the Manila International Film Festival, the Box Office Entertainment Awards, the FAMAS, and The Eddy’s for his portrayal of John Nuñez, a man so consumed by his work that he neglects family.
Even politicians jumped in on the Rewind hype.
On February 12, 2024, Marian and Dingdong met with Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte, who handed the couple a certificate of recognition for their work on the film and its huge success.
Next, Marian and Dingdong graced the Senate upon the invitation of action star turned lawmaker Robin Padilla who issued Senate Resolution No. 909 recognizing Rewind’s feats.
"This achievement is a testament to the return of a vibrant and flourishing Philippine film industry — attributed to the hard work and commitment of artists, writers, directors, and all members of the production teams," said Robin, who may be forgiven his senator's exuberance by the fact that, indeed, the movie industry had been in the doldrums for years.
In an Instagram post dated January 15, 2024, Dingdong thoughtfully shared his reflections on Rewind and the MMFF as the latter came to a close.
"When we joined the MMFF, my prayer was for the strength to be an effective storyteller, aiming to touch lives, particularly during this holiday season. The other prayer was for the revival of vibrancy in local cinema, a return to its glory days," wrote Dingdong.
"Now, as the curtain falls on the MMFF, I extend a salute to the ten films that courageously shared their beautiful stories. These films are destined to be timeless pieces, outliving us all. It’s an honor to be part of the historic 49th MMFF."

THE FACE OF MULTIPLE BRANDS
Now in his 40s, Dingdong is years removed from his matinee idol image that once defined him and launched him into superstardom.
Despite the passage of time, his appeal to the public remains as strong as ever.
This is evident from the way Dingdong remains highly sought after by companies and advertisers, who have a run of celebrity endorsers to choose from.
Throughout his career, Dingdong has secured numerous endorsements, representing a wide spectrum of brands—from emerging names to high-profile industry giants.
Naturally, starring in a blockbuster film like Rewind has bolstered Dingdong's profile even more, reinforcing his marketability and appeal to advertisers.
A quick look at the brands Dingdong currently endorses reveals an impressive line-up of 15 names—Bioderm, Avignon Clinic, Caltex, GAC Motor Philippines, Wilkins, fast-food giant McDonald's, and the Italian lifestyle brand Police, where he is the first and only Filipino global ambassador thus far.
What makes Dingdong particularly appealing to advertisers, aside from charisma, is perhaps his wholesome image.
He embodies that rare combination of versatility and mass appeal while exuding an air of sophistication, qualities seldom found in male celebrities.
Additionally, Dingdong’s image as a loving husband to his wife, Marian, and a devoted father to their children, Zia and Sixto, resonates with Filipino sensibilities which place a high value on close family ties.
Dingdong's Instagram account, with over 4 million followers, is filled with photos and videos of moments with his family, offering the public a glimpse into his domestic life.
In social media, Dingdong boasts an impressive 99/100 influencer score, as reported by Klear Data.
In monetary terms, a single Instagram post from Dingdong is valued at over PHP 730,000, while an Instagram video or story is estimated to command PHP 1.99 million each.
Meanwhile, Dingdong's TikTok account boasts 1.5 million followers and an impressive 20.4 million accumulated likes, with an estimated value of PHP 1.3 million.
His official Facebook account has 4.7 million fans, while his X (formerly Twitter) account has 706K followers.
These figures paint a clear picture of Dingdong's bankability as a celebrity, a success largely attributed to his meticulously cultivated wholesome image.
That’s not to say Dingdong’s personal life has been intrigue-free.
In 2021, rumors circulated online claiming that Dingdong had fathered a child with actress Lindsay De Vera.
Dingdong opted to remain silent on the issue until May of this year, when he addressed this during a guest appearance on Fast Talk with Boy Abunda.

“Wala po. Hindi po totoo," Dingdong settled the issue.
"Sa totoo lang, nagdadalawang isip talaga ako kagabi kung may sasabihin ba ako about the topic and the issue kasi alam kong baka tanungin ninyo," he said.
"Pero para sa akin po kasi, dahil may mga tumatawag na po sa ‘kin na mga kaibigan, mga kamag-anak, ‘yung mga nagmamalasakit po sa ‘kin, and because I have a responsibility dito sa aking mga mahal sa buhay, responsibilidad ko na klaruhin ang isyung ito, dahil mahalagang mahalaga po ang aspetong ito para sa akin."
Dingdong added: “I love my wife, I love my family very much, my kids. That’s why I’m saying that it is not true."

In an interview last July, Dingdong said that he and Marian decided not to accept movie projects for this year's MMFF so that they could spend quality time with their kids during the Christmas season.
Despite the personal joys and professional rewards brought by Rewind, the couple admitted to feeling guilty about working so hard during last year’s holiday season to promote the movie.
"Kahit mismong Christmas day nasa labas kami nagpro-promote ng movie," Dingdong recalled.
"Yung mga anak namin naiwan sa bahay, di kami kasama. Mga bata pa sila.
"They’re supposed to be celebrating and enjoying Christmas kasama kami.
"So, we both decided na di kami ulit gagawa ng movie for MMFF."

ALWAYS VISIBLE TO THE AUDIENCE
Dingdong, now at a stage in his career where he can afford to cherry-pick projects that truly interest him, has consistently enjoyed the full support of his home network, GMA.
On a side note, Dingdong stands out as perhaps the only GMA Network talent to have collaborated extensively with Star Cinema — the film studio of GMA's erstwhile rival ABS-CBN — on several projects, including Noy, Segunda Mano, One More Try, She's the One, The Unmarried Wife, Seven Sundays, Fantastica, and Rewind.
He led the cast of the 2023 GMA-7 crime mystery series, Royal Blood, in which he played Napoleon Terrazo Royales.

This year, Dingdong is the host of the singing reality show The Voice Kids, aside from continuing to lead the charge for the infotainment program Amazing Earth launched in 2018.
Dingdong also serves as the host of the Philippine edition of the popular U.S. game show, Family Feud, a role he accepted since the show’s return to local television on March 21, 2022.

This marks Dingdong’s second stint as the host of Family Feud. He first held the role from 2009 to 2010, after which Edu Manzano took over, followed by Lucky Manzano when the show moved to ABS-CBN.
Interestingly, Dingdong — despite hosting Family Feud several years ago — admitted to the press late last year that he struggled at first to find his rhythm: "During the first few episodes, talagang ako’y nangangapa.
"To be honest, I asked myself if I was the right person for this because I wasn’t comfortable with this kind of format.
"But then, as time passed, I grew to embrace the show more. It became a part of my daily routine."
Hosting an interactive game show and engaging with contestants from diverse backgrounds allows Dingdong to showcase the more relaxed side of himself on camera.
“I’m generally a quiet person. I’m not much of a storyteller, but when I’m on the Family Feud stage, it’s like my space to be loud, to be lively, because it’s something I don’t usually do," Dingdong said.
“And I think, for me, it’s also very therapeutic. In a way, hosting a show like this is also a performance, and I genuinely enjoy what I do because the energy I get from our contestants every day is different."
DINGDONG'S OTHER VENTURES
The Kapuso actor is also deeply immersed in business.
Dingdong owns and operates the independent film studio, Agosto Dos Pictures, and serves as the CEO of Doorbell Technologies, the company behind the e-commerce and delivery platform Dingdong.ph
And then there's the persistent speculation that Dingdong may be considering a career in public office.

Dingdong actually has experience in public service and has actively participated in socially relevant initiatives.
He was appointed commissioner-at-large of the National Youth Commission, a role he took on from 2014 to 2016.
Dingdong is a Philippine Navy reservist lieutenant commander and a former master sergeant of the Philippine Marines Reserve Command.
Even his Dingdong.ph venture was inspired by his desire to support entertainment industry workers earn a living during the COVID-19 pandemic, a period when the entertainment sector was among the hardest hit.
"Gusto kong aminin na may panahon that I really thought na, sana, I could do more for the Filipino people, over and beyond my work here in the [showbiz] industry," he told Boy Abunda in April 2022.
"But it didn’t reach such a decisive point because I have high regard for public office."
Explaining, Dingdong said, "Lahat tayo may kanya-kanyang papel sa lipunan, and I remain committed to doing my part."
Still, Dingdong refrained from dismissing outright the possibility of entering politics in the future, stating, "It’s not for me to say, but the circumstance."
With over 20 years in the spotlight, Dingdong certainly knows how to keep the public guessing.
