If there's one thing Heart Evangelista learned about beauty over the past ten years, it's that there really is no need for anyone to stick to conventional beauty standards.
The Kapuso actress talked about how her perspective on beauty changed during a celebratory luncheon marking her 10th anniversary with Pond's Philippines on February 3, 2023, at Manila House in Bonifacio Global City.
Heart emphasized that even celebrities are not immune to societal pressures to look perfect.
"When you grow up, especially when you're—not just because I was on TV or anything—but even in school, we feel like, there's a certain standard of being beautiful.
"Whether you have to be tall, you have to be this and that... I was so pressured, you know, to have beautiful skin. I was pressured to be the best."
But Heart has learned to reject toxic beauty standards and adopt a more positive and inclusive perspective of beauty—one that emphasizes self-love and is about embracing one's perceived imperfections.
Heart said, "As I went by, I realized that my weaknesses were my strengths because it made me different. It made me unique.
"And it's the same for other people. You don't have to be the most beautiful. Everybody's beautiful."
She continued, "I used to wear super sky-high shoes, but now, I'm chill. Because I feel like this is who I am.
"And the more that you become authentic, and the more that you're honest and real, the more charming in a weird way you'll be... and the more unique, and the more people will find it cute.
"You just have to be yourself, not hide your flaws, be proud of who you are, and the more confident and natural you are, the more charming you'll be."
Heart also believes that inner beauty is far more significant than physical appearance.
"It's not about if you have a beautiful nose or colored eyes. It's not about that. It's the whole package and it has a lot to do with your heart and yourself.
"Because in the end, again everybody's beautiful, but it's just something about a persona that you know, 'Ah, there's something about her that's genuine...' Something like that.
"The looks will fade, but it can fade gracefully. But again, it's also about the heart.
"I'm not saying we're all perfect. We all have our bad days. Again, it's about how grateful you are and how appreciative you are with everything that you have.
"And for some reason, when you're like that, you just have this certain glow up."

BEAUTY ADVICE
Now at almost 38, Heart has become a source of inspiration for many when it comes to youthful and radiant skin.
And for one to achieve this, Heart said it's all about "prevention and consistency."
She expounded, "You really have to live it. If you want it, you really have to be consistent in everything you do, with what you eat, how much water you have in a day, hours of sleeping, and really making time for yourself."
Make time for your beauty routine. Choose the best products for your skin.
"I feel that you really have to put yourself first. And it's true what they say, that you have to love yourself, you have to prioritize yourself.
"Because no matter how busy you are, you really have to have a lot time to just do your skin care at night."
Contrary to the belief of some, Heart sees vanity not as a sin but rather as a form of self-love and self-care.
She explained, "You owe it to yourself. You worked so hard. You deserve the best products.
"And you deserve to just stay there in your bathroom and really just enjoy the process.
"So I really feel that if you take care of yourself, you take care of your body, it’ll take care of you, too.
"And allow you to do many other things... glowing at the same time, even longer."
HEART EVANGELISTA ON STAYING YOUTHFUL
As for a specific product she uses, Heart swears by the anti-aging wonders of Pond’s Age Miracle Ultimate Youth Essence.
And it's actually her secret to her no-foundation beauty look that day.
"In fact, I don't wear foundation. Today, I'm just using powder—yes, no joke!" she revealed, making everyone in the room say "sana all."
Heart continued, "It's just really the serum, and then you put a little sunblock and then, powder."
Asked what she loves about it, she said, "It has the lightest texture. You can hardly feel that it's there. You don't even have to wait for 30 minutes to apply your makeup.
"I use it as a primer. It really gives you that glow."
Heart also said, "It evens out the skin tone. And I do use it on my neck, my elbows, and on my knees. So sulit na sulit! I use it everywhere, clavicles, everything!
