Ylona Garcia came as a golden goddess to the ABS-CBN Ball 2019 on September 14.
The 17-year-old Kapamilya star wore a sequined two-piece terno gown designed by Michael Leyva.
During the ball's livestream coverage, it was revealed that her stylist Myrrh Lao To saw this look as Ylona's way of owning the title of this generation's "golden girl."
In a quick interview with the press, which included PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal), Ylona said that the inspiration behind her golden look is none other than herself.
"It's so direct to the point, but yeah," the teen performer said.
"We shouldn't be sorry for our confidence, you know? We should embrace being confident and embrace ourselves... Embrace who you are on the outside and beauty will come with that."
Ylona's golden ensemble was also a blend of Filipino and western fashion.
It had the traditional elements of a Filipino national dress, and it also evoked the western 20's flapper style.
Her beauty look was a deliberate homage to her younger years in Australia.
Ylona told the press, "When I was at least five years old to 13 years old, I actually had really curly hair because of where I lived in Australia... I always go to the beach, so I had beach hair.
"I decided to embrace them instead of just putting away."
Ylona's baby hairs became one of her beauty assets that night.
Ethan David did her hair, while Anthea Bueno did her make-up.
The ABS-CBN Ball 2019 was for the benefit of Bantay Bata 163. This year aimed to raise funds for the Bantay Edukasyon Program.
