Namangha ang mga nanood ng National Costume presentation at Talent Quest ng Miss International Queen 2022 sa national costume ni Miss International Queen Philippines Fuschia Anne Ravena.
Kasalukuyang nagaganap ang event sa Central World, Bangkok, Thailand, nitong Lunes ng hapon, June 20, 2022.
Mga papuri at palakpak ang tinanggap ni Ravena nang rumampa siya sa entablado, suot ang national costume na nilikha para sa kanya ng mahusay at Cebu-based fashion designer na si Cary Santiago.
Ang Santacruzan ang ginamit na inspirasyon ni Santiago sa paggawa sa national costume ng opisyal na kandidata ng ating bansa sa international beauty pageant para sa transgender women.
Paglalarawan ni Santiago sa kanyang likha: “A yearly tradition in the Philippines held every festive month of May. This is a ritual pageant held as the culminating activity of the celebration of flores de Mayo.
“The tradition dates back to 18th century and we Filipinos are continuously practicing this in honor of the Virgin Mother Mary. This is the highlight of every fiesta in every barangay/barrio as everyone takes part in the foot procession with the women donning the most beautiful gowns and dresses made by the locales in the area.
“Inspired by this tradition, the dress which was painstakingly hand stitch by more than a dozen workers was put together to mimic a ‘reina’ (read as Queen).
“The majestic arc with the cross symbolizes triumph with the red velvet curtain symbolizing royalty. The intricate details and patterns pays homage to the craftsmanship of our ancestors with the bosom flowers representing the decor of the ‘karusa’ (carriage). The ornate doll is depicting the candidate herself. It’s Fuschia wearing Fuschia.
“And as the Philippines (specifically Cebu where our delegate hails from) just recently celebrated its Quincentennial commemoration (500 years) of the Magallanes-Elcano Expedition, the best way to pay tribute to this momentous event is by honoring one of the traditions we have been practicing, that stood not just in the worse, but most importantly, in the best of times!”
Gaganapin ang grand coronation ng Miss International Queen 2022 sa Tiffany’s Show Theatre, Pattaya, Thailand, sa darating na Sabado, June 25.
Dalawampu’t tatlong kandidata mula sa iba’t ibang bansa ang maglalaban-laban para sa Miss International Queen crown.
Kung papalarin si Ravena, siya ang ikatlong Pilipina na mag-uuwi ng karangalang unang napanalunan ni Kevin Balot noong 2012 at sinundan ni Trixie Maristela noong 2015.
