Not all hashtags deserve Kyline Alcantara's attention and time.

As an Avon ambassador, the 23-year-old actress has learned to channel her voice toward causes that feel personal.

She is not one to jump on every trending issue.

But, when it comes to empowering women and encouraging them to take control of their health, she shows up both literally and purposefully.

On October 17, Kyline joined students at the University of Santo Tomas for the kick-off of Avon Pink Campus Tour 2025—a campaign celebrating Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

The movement aims to spark conversations, break barriers, and equip young Filipinas with the knowledge and confidence to care for their bodies.

EMPOWERMENT WITH INTENT

Asked whether she ever feels pressured to stay neutral or speak up about social issues, Kyline admitted to choosing her moments.

“For me, it’s not about being loud all the time but being intentional about what I stand for,” she tells PEP.ph via e-mail interview.

“And this campaign to raise breast cancer awareness is one of Avon’s causes I’ll always stand behind.”

Her tone was measured, but her conviction was clear.

“Avon stays relevant because it evolves with women,” she continues.

“From my mom’s generation to mine, the brand has always stood for empowerment.

“It’s not just selling beauty or products, it’s creating a space where we can freely express, be confident, and proud of who we are.”

That sense of purpose is what makes this advocacy hit close to home.

She said: “Empowerment isn’t just about confidence on the outside; it’s also about protecting our health and knowing our body.

“Breast cancer can affect anyone, and being part of a campaign that helps women, especially young ones, learn how to spot early signs and potentially save lives is something I’m genuinely proud of.

“It’s empowerment with a real purpose.”

KYLINE PRACTICES WHAT SHE PREACHES

Long before this campaign, Kyline had already taken her own preventive steps— completing her final dose of the cervical cancer vaccine in 2023.

It is a concrete example of how she embodies the message she promotes.

“One big misconception is that breast cancer only happens to older women,” she said.

“That’s not true because anyone can be at risk, even younger women. That’s why awareness and early detection are so important.

“Building that habit to do breast self-checks shouldn’t start later. It should start now.”

She urged young women not to feel awkward about the campaign’s bold slogan to #FeelYourself.

“Do not be afraid. Once you understand that it’s about health, not vanity, it becomes empowering—it’s self-care that could save your life.

“That mindset shift makes all the difference.”

HEALTH AS INVESTMENT, NOT INDULGENCE

On whether she is the type to worry about her health, Kyline] said she has simply learned to pay attention.

"I’m very mindful of my health. I’ve learned that prevention is always better than cure.

"I listen to my body more now. If I feel off, I rest, hydrate, or get checked. You only get one body, so you have to take care of it."

What's more is she does not see it as an expense.

“Yes, if it’s for my health, it’s worth it. I see it as an investment.

“Whether it’s vitamins, skin care that’s good for me, or getting regular check-ups, those things give me peace of mind.

“It’s not splurging, it’s self-care in the best way.”

By the end of the kick-off program, the Sparkle artist led the audience to recite Avon's #FeelYourself Pledge to take action for cancer prevention.

The Pink Campus Tour is set to reach 14 universities nationwide—from UST to West Visayas State University.

Fellow Avon ambassadors Kaori Oinuma, Maymay Entrata, and Enchong Dee are also joining select stops across Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao.

It is part of Avon’s larger “Pink” advocacy banner, which also ties in with the Avon Pink Bus mobile clinic in partnership with the Philippine Cancer Society (PCS).

This long-time partner organization allows the brand to create impact on a grassroots level to directly support breast cancer patients and survivors in their journey.

Together, these initiatives aim to ensure that awareness is paired with real access—delivering both education on campuses and life-saving screenings in communities.
