Ruffa Gutierrez shares welcome news about her father, veteran actor Eddie Gutierrez, revealing that he is now cancer-free.

The actress announces the development during the screening of her latest movie, Red Crown, in Taguig City on October 27, 2026.

She also thanks those who prayed for Eddie's recovery and addresses false reports claiming that her mother, Annabelle Rama, had died.

"I want to share with you the good news, my dad is cancer free," Ruffa told reporters, explaining why the family had chosen to keep his condition away from public discussion.

The family learned about Eddie's recovery two weeks before the event.

According to Ruffa, his health has continued to improve, bringing them considerable relief.

"We found out the good news two weeks ago that he is cancer free and is really getting better. Iyon ang good news. Happy kami."

Ruffa also recalls the period when her family became particularly worried about the Gutierrez's patriarch after he underwent a spinal procedure in Singapore early this year.

Ruffa credits the prayers and encouragement they received from fans, including those based overseas, for helping the family through that difficult period.

"A lot of people prayed for my dad. I want to thank them for their prayers. It really worked," she said.

She stressed: "Hindi totoo yung fake news na iyon. She is definitely not dead. She is alive and kicking. Thank God."

The actress also appeals to content creators to stop publishing fabricated stories about celebrities for online engagement or income.

Ruffa acknowledges that making a living can be difficult, but she urges people to find more constructive ways to earn money rather than harm others through misinformation.

"Wag na kayo gumawa ng fake news, kasi nakakasira kayo ng buhay.

"Alam ko kailangan niyo kumita, mahirap buhay ngayon, but maybe find ways and means that are positive, and can inspire other people."

Her appeal came after both Eddie and Annabelle became the subjects of false reports about their health.
