For Solenn Heussaff and Nico Bolzico, cleaning the house is not enough.
They also make sure it’s safe for their two daughters: Tili and Maelys.
In their exclusive interview with PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal), the couple emphasized the importance of keeping their home mosquito-free.
Solenn spoke first: "Mahilig talaga ako sa plants. Plantita ako noong pandemic pa.
"So di ako tumitigil sa mga plants sa bahay. I know that home plants can attract more mosquitoes.
"At kami naman ni Nico, super medyo may outdoor play kami para sa mga bata, so we wanna make sure that they have the benefit of playing outdoor, but also, the security of not getting bitten by mosquitoes."
Nico agreed.
In fact, one of the reasons they moved to a new house was to give the girls a larger lawn to explore.
"...it's a huge part of their childhood to be outside, to get dirty, to play, to be outdoor.
"And I wouldn't, we wouldn't remove that from them.
"So, the respond to that is to protect them through everything that Solenn has just mentioned, right?"

How Solenn Heussaff and Nico Bolzico Protect Their Kids Against Dengue
Their iwas-lamok routine is quite meticulous.
Solenn said: "What I do is at home, we always use Baygon, and then outdoors naman, since I also have like a set-up outside, we, we use the oils na I put it in different areas— by the pool, by the sofa, by the garden—to make sure there's extra protection.
"Tapos, on top of that naman, repellent at mga stickers para sa mga bata.
"And we also make sure not to go out at certain times kasi we all know na mosquitoes usually come out like rainy season, they're out a lot maybe, I think towards the nighttime or early morning.
"So, we make sure not to go out at those times as well."
Call them "praning" parents, but Tili and Maëlys are still too young to fully understand the potential dangers around them.
Solenn said: "Bata pa sila so they know they can get sick. They just don't, don't know to what extent being [or] having dengue is or being hospitalized.
"So, we always tell them, 'You can go to the hospital,' but they don't know the actual pain or they don't know what's gonna happen."
Nico agreed with Solenn.
"Unfortunately, brutally honest, the kids, they don't like, like it's really hard to explain to a six or a three-year-old what dengue is and how it can affect them, so, it's like, it's really hard to keep them, 'Don't do this. Don't do that.'
"They want to go out."
And Solenn doesn't want the kids to feel restricted by the lamok.
"I mean, they're still kids. They get dirty. They get super dirty. They run so dirty.
"They run outside. They, minsan, parang hinahabol sila para... I'm going after them to say, 'Uy, nakalimutan niyo yung repellent. Nakalimutan niyo yung ganito.'
"So, you really have to pay attention as a parent."

WHO'S THE MORE OC PARENT AT HOME? SOLENN HEUSSAFF OR nico bolzico?
Who between the two of them is the "clean freak?"
Solenn admitted: "I'm more OC at home.
"At home, everything is very clean. Everything has a way of being, everything has to be fixed a certain way."
Nico threw in: "If it is a continuous where this is the dirtiest point in the world, this is the cleanest point in the world, Solenn is here [cleanest].
"Completely obsessed with. I'm like here [dirtiest]. Yeah, I'm like, 'I'm human.'
"Like Solenn goes here. She wants like everything spotless. If there's a drop of water in that corner of the house, she will see it on the third floor.
"'What is that drop of water doing in the corner of that...'"
Solenn and Nico led the kick-off of the Baygon and OFF! Mission: TAPOSible campaign, a nationwide movement encouraging Filipino families to help protect life's everyday moments by making dengue prevention part of their daily routine.
