In real life, Judy Ann Santos is known for her other passion: cooking.
This multi-awarded actress is a Center for Asian Culinary Studies (CACS) graduate with Double Gold honors—a gold medal in culinary arts and another in pastry arts.
She is also a restaurateur.
And no matter how busy she gets, Juday, as she is fondly called, relishes her real-life role as queen of her kitchen.
She gets to do this efficiently, thanks to her reliable companions: her appliances.
Her favorite is her rice cooker, which, she says, is the most used because “rice is life.”
Two more kitchen appliances deservea mention:
“When I use the Kyowa Airfryer, I can easily make snacks my kids love without the guilt of deep frying.
“Or when I prepare my Black Polvoron Halo-Halo, the Kyowa Ice Shaver helps me achieve that perfect, fine ice texture.
"These small details matter when you love being in the kitchen.”

HOW JUDY ANN SANTOS CHOOSES HER APPLIANCES
At the contract signing with Kyowa, she tells PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) her main considerations when buying or replacing appliances.

The most important factor for her is usefulness.
“On top of everything else, dapat, functionality talaga. It should be function.
“It doesn't matter if ano yung presyo niya as long as alam kong magde-deliver siya properly.”
Next is the price.
She continues: “Especially kapag ka naka-budget ka.
"But you really, kasi kailangan mo kasi i-prioritize ano ba talaga yung mga appliances na kailangan mong talagang unang bilhin.
“Then you have to take a list of that para pag-iipunan mo siya.
“So hindi kailangan na sobrang mahal na item. As long as it delivers, as long as it's convenient and very easy to use, then I'm for it.”

Does she change her appliances often?
“You'll see it like, let's say yung blender. If blender yung gagamitin mo, meron talagang span of life yung elesi niya…the more you use the blades, especially when you blend, like let's say, mga ice o medyo mahirap talagang i-blend, at some point, meron talaga siyang pudpod na magaganap.”
Her advice: if there is an available part, especially if it is still under warranty, just have it replaced.
When does she decide to totally replace an appliance?
“Kung nasulit mo naman with this price, okay na palitan mo yung buong unit kasi sulit na sulit, kumbaga na-ROI [Return on Investment] mo na siya.”
She proudly mentions that the brand she endorses “really, really lasts a lifetime.”
How about aesthetics?
“Hindi naman ako very critical when it comes to that. Parang, it's totally fine kung walang ganitong kulay. Basta magagamit ko at nagde-deliver, di ko nakikita [as a] problem.”
WHAT INFLUENCES JUDY ANN SANTOS’S DECISION WHEN BUYING APPLIANCES?
Meticulous about everything she puts in her kitchen, Juday makes sure she personally checks and tests each appliance.
“Most of the time, may mga recommendations talaga, but regardless kung okay sa kanila, pero hindi naman okay yung function sa akin, hindi rin siya tatawid for me.
“So I really have to test it for myself kasi iba ako gumamit sa kusina ko, iba ako magluto, iba ako kumilos. So it really varies with, with which type of appliance.”
