Slater Young finally broke his silence over the Cebu floods last year, insisting that his luxury condo development, The Rise at Monterrazas, was not responsible for the tragedy that killed nearly 100 people.

In a video statement posted on April 19, 2026, the celebrity engineer and his family emphasized that independent studies from the University of the Philippines Diliman confirmed the project did not worsen the flooding.

“Throughout that time, our family endured a great deal of criticism. Some of it deeply hurtful, especially as parents, and we did our best to shield our boys from it.

“But we also know that what we experienced is nothing compared to the suffering of those who were directly affected by the flood.

“And we tried to never lose sight of that. And we waited for the truth.”

The Pinoy Big Brother: Unlimited winner added matter-of-factly, that their detention ponds helped mitigate some of the water flow brought on by Typhoon Tino.
