Lifestyle content creator Bea Borres sets the record straight on her spending habits, placing her priorities in practical over unnecessary splurges.
In a Facebook post on February 27, 2025, Bea shares her thoughts on financial responsibility, particularly when it comes to keeping up with luxury trends like upgrading smartphones.
Bea recounts a recent conversation with a family member about people who take on debt just to purchase the latest iPhone, only to struggle when it’s time to pay up.
She begins her post with: "Some people bili an iPhone but in reality, they make utang just to buy one then ang hirap pa singilin.
"And tbh, I’ve been asked so many times (both online and offline) why I don’t always get the latest one."
To address these questions, Bea reveals that her current iPhone 15 was actually sponsored by Globe.
The 22-year-old internet celebrity explains that she had no immediate plans to upgrade because her previous phone was still in perfect working condition.

She writes (published as is): "I get why people ask, though cuz I’m a lifestyle creator, and I know a lot of you see my life as magastos/expensive.
"And yeah, while that’s true in some ways, I’m still practical enough to know that I don’t need to upgrade just ‘cause there’s a new one or spend just to keep up with trends."
Bea goes on to stress the importance of financial stability over material possessions, reminding her followers that "flexing a luxury lifestyle means nothing if it comes at the expense of financial stability."
She continues, "Phones depreciate, but investments, skills, and experiences appreciate over time."
While Bea acknowledges that if someone can afford luxuries without compromising their financial health to "go for it," her mindset for practicality always comes first.
BEA BORRES BUDGETS HER CONDO EXPENSES
Before ending her post, Bea shocks her fans about her remarkably low condo expenses.
She claims: "ALSO skl can i just say i’ve been actually keeping my condo bills under 1,500 pesos a month like i don’t use the aircon talaga every night.
"Siguro in one month i only on the aircon like 5 times or everytime i have a visitor even my yayas are surprised. [laughing with tears emoji]"
She even adds in the comments section that she is perfectly fine with her "electric fan that matches the aesthetic of my condo hahaha it's color white."

Netizens react
Bea’s no-nonsense take on luxury spending hit home for many.
Here are just some of the replies under her post:
"Grabe, I super love how you're so chill about the iPhone flex! Like, you don't even care about the latest model and just go with what works for you. So rare na people are like that these days, specially we know naman that u have pambili, it's cool to see someone like you who's all about practicality over clout!"
"U are already mayaman, there's nothing to prove. And it's even good that you're so practical. The wannabes out there want something they think the rich have in order to pretend, even if it's utang, even if it's so mahirap to get the iphone. Because it feeds their ego if they show off their latest version of utanged iphone and they want people to be like ‘wow, it's mahal, they're mayaman siguro.’"
"Yeah, mahalaga is you're spending your own money and you're not making pabigat to people around you. Do not buy things you can't afford lalo na if you're palamunin of your parents."
"maybe its malamig in her condo thats why shes not using her ac, so tipid of you kudos to you gurl! oh btw, ur atenista nga pala so ur talagang sanay na with no ac at all. yes me din naman if my iphone is working perfectly fine naman why pa making sabay sa uso diba?! i so admire you for being practical!"
"My iphone is still 14 promax and wont upgrade until it's sira. I stopped having a luxurious lifestyle when i started my biz cause it's so hirap talaga to earn money from it then spend it on things i dont really kailangan?! And also as a business owner, i also have utang here and there just to sustain my biz so its so nakakahiya to flex tht you're buying this and that, RIGHTTTTT?!"
